Re: Speeding Question
Don't worry too much about it S219, you aren't going to loose your licence unless you get caught twice.
I passed a mobile camera in a 30 zone a couple of months ago at more that 30, very uncharacteristic for me 'cos I normally stick to all the speed limist these days, even the stupid ones
, but there was a build up of factors (bad day, bad mood, moaning wife, jaberring sprog, lateness) that meant that I pulled out onto a busy road into a gap that was truthfully a bit smaller that I would have liked and had to accelerate hard so that the approaching cars didn't have to brake. Anyway there was the bloody van! Speedo showed 37 before I slowed down.
I reckon that the cameras are usually set with a tolerance of 10% +2 as jasper said, so in a 30 that's 35. Also the speedo always reads over by as much as 10%, so if it's reading 37 then it's probably only doing about 34 or 35. No ticket arrived anyway so I'm happy

Re: Speeding Question
Any way its good to learn from all your experiences, yes i was on the coast road, i had left the first set of cameras at Jesmond by Corner House, and when approaching the second feel i committed the crime. I have since noticed another disturbing possability of entrapment... if you can call it that, thier is a mast where the slip road joins the Coast Road right outside the old Cigarette Factory, which is now a swanky Apartment Block, this mast has 3 black cameras pearched on it before you get the the old iron railway bridge flyover. i dont know what these are?
Re: Speeding Question
If they're black they're probably not speed cameras unless they've also got a yellow face.
Could be Highways Agency, ANPR, or even just council/private CCTV cameras

Re: Speeding Question
As MJB says, most likely to be some sort of surveillance/CCTV cameras. I keep forgetting those cameras are there as when I used to live in Jesmond (almost 10 years ago now) I used to live right by there and used to fly across the flyover all the time as there were no cameras. The only ones I used to have to worry about were the ones on Benton Rd and the one on Gosforth High St where it changes from the Great North Rd and becomes a 30 zone just after the roundabout.
