You know I'm really chuffed with all your wishes, this in itself makes me feel much better, in fact probably more encouraging than my own family  :frown:

I'm going to chase up victim support today about an appointment etc. I'm not affraid to speak to someone about it I'm old enough to know the benefits and I don't care if anyone thinks it's 'gay' etc

I'm fitting 2 x 300 watt flood lights around Welly Towers at the weekend, quite looking forward to getting the old amateur sparkies' kit out again and of course the step-up in security should bring about some comfort too.

Cheers all.

Welly, now that you are thinking about beefing up your security, may I suggest a couple of things?

Speak to the VS or the Police about a panic alarm, my daughter got one fitted after she had serious harrassment from a crazy ex.
My wife and I carry personal panic alarms, my wife has one on her person and in the car.
We both carry a dedicated phone number in case of trouble (provided by her employer), if we suspect any danger to our safety we can ring this number, we even have a number if we are abroad.

A friend of mine was seriously threatened by some heavy villans from Manchester, after she got into problems over reporting the kids of one villan in prison, for criminal damage to her property. She had a good quality cctv system fitted to help her cope.

Well the office is going from "come on in everyone" to... wait at strong locked door, ring bell, look at camera, identify yourself, get Welly approval, get let in. If Welly don't like then they aint coming in. Fin.

I looked at getting a Tazar but you're not allowed to use them :(

Similarly these Pepper spray types can lead to you being procecuted (by your attacker) for harming THEM

Failing this the Volvo would make a nice battering ram :)

Certainly getting wise to all this going's on is a real eye opener.

A friend of mine had a gun poked in his face at work on Friday. We're told to run away very quickly, but Steve's instinctive reaction was to twat the scumbag in the face, and once on the floor he got a full can of incapacitant up his nose and a size 10 round the head.

I'd have just poo'd my pants.

I don't think anyone can really know what they'd do until they're in that situation, Turbo's mate obviously had a rush of adrenaline, I'm pretty sure I'd have a rush of other bodily fluids

RE the prozac discussion, I've had a prozac period too and really wasn't shy about talking about it (some of you may remember  ) but I would say don't rush into it. If you don't feel any improvement over time then by all means go get some, but be aware that there are risks and they'll make you feel worse before you feel better. Correct me if I'm wrong but I get the impression you're making great progress without any drugs  .

I'm lucky (or unlucly) enough to have a really sh*t memory (for some things) although I have a capacity for remembering numbers and other weird facts :? I seem to have the ability to forget crappy things completely and quickly. I'll still take up the counselling though (when they get back to me :? ).

Being busy helps, I'm busy with work Mon-Fri and then at the weekends I'm refurbishing the house. I have an easy going wife, two super dooper kids and don't really have to worry about money that much so everything's (otherwise) cool.

Oh and Stella Artois does a great job too :)

Thanks once again for all your comments, and especially the new guys who have felt inspired to talk

Going to warm up the Volvo now for a dash down to the Unit :x got to pick up some stuff :frown:

Welly chase them up mate,
before i had need of their professional help i did a fair bit of I.T work at some of the VS offices, they get their referrals from the local plod and and then take it from there, now i would say about 80% of the people contacted (my own stats dont quote me, its just an almost educated guess :? ) dont feel they need any further assistance from them,
now this isnt surprising as the huge range of crimes that are passed on to VS, but this does mean they have quite a work load. Knowing the type of people VS use both on a voluntary and employed basis nobody is going to begrudge you a quick phone call to see how things are going, and it may just help speed things up for you and the important person in this case is YOU, its only one phone call its not going to have any detrimental effects on anybody but it really could help put a bit more sunshine in your life. Go on call em, please mate its worth it.
