Happy new year!

Did my MOT yesterday.
Passed with flying colors.

Only problem was LEDs for my licence plate...they were a bit cross with me, because it's been a year and i haven't fixed the "minor" problem :D
But suspension, handbrake, foot brakes, lights and gases were a-ok 8)

Splendid news, what's the deal with the led's though? Is it the wrong sort of light or summink?

And this morning I have another one of those jobs that just won't go away - it snowed last night. Bastard :frown:

The MOT guy said that retrofit-leds are usually banned because they blink.
If a halogen\normal bulb goes out, it's out and it doesn't interfere
If a LED goes out, it blinks. (depends on the LED but it's easier to ban all than some.)

I don't know how much truth there is but seems plausible

On paper it's written as a small\minor lighting defect.
Three minor defects\problems and you don't pass.
That means if I would have LEDs in the rear, sidelights and blinkers... FAIL :D
Luckily I would hate LEDs in the front and don't see the point in installing them as blinkers...
Will install LEDs as reversing lights tho'. Prefer that over a separate\extra light

There isn't any! LED's running off ac can go tits-up in a variety of interesting ways, they can loose a diode and flicker or the voltage regulator can start flashing the led as the components die, but I've never seen one flash on dc. Sounds like voodoo to me :frown:

I have.

I replaced the W5W front sidelight bulbs and number plate lamps with LEDs shortly after buying the original Dogmobile, aiming to avoid the constant lamp swapping I had been doing on my previous Xsara.

After 3 months, I had one working, I dead & 2 flashing at different speeds.

Changed back to filament lamps and all were still working 12 months later.

It just occurred to me, the back end of yoyoII is festooned with led's, in fact I don't think it has any actual bulbs back there - how does this work?

Bejesus, just had a bit of timely luck.

I've been waiting to hear about our success (or otherwise) in bidding to secure a £102K contract with immediate start and which saves three Men's jobs in the absence of anything else here.

Well I only gone done and won the job :cheesy:

Phew!

This morning I took one of t'wife's friends to hostable in Zagreb, she needs a prescription for orthopaedic shoes (well if she will keep falling over and breaking the same leg  ). I was dreading it but I managed to park nearby and they'd bothered to clear all the pavements there, which kind of makes sense around an orthopaedic hospital really.

Anyway, while I was waiting I took a stroll around the vicinity and I spotted...

 A bumbar is a bumblebee but a bum bar? Any ideas?

Also, while I was walking, I spotted a familiar shape out of the corner of my eye down the side of some flats:

(note what's parked behind it)

A bit rusty but, overall, I've taxed much worse.

It was down the side behind a gate with a lock on it, so I had to clamber over a hedge and slither down the garden next door to get to it. Of course I'd only assumed the gate was locked but while I was looking at the Avenger a guy pushed the gate open and walked straight past me without a word

I almost forgot this, it's a fairly new 3 series I think (you'll have to forgive my ignorance as they all look the same to me). It's on the other side of the fire house, I saw it coming home yesterday, badly parked which I didn't think was anything out of the ordinary, with a guy in a suit standing next to it on his mobile, also normal. About an hour later:

I'm not sure what's going on here, maybe the Uber car had spent a busy day being king of the road so the driver thought he'd give it a treat and ordered up a piggy-back ride home :?
