update: I forgot to buy the bits, and also forgot to book time off work, so I'm going to try to put it off another month seeing as it hasn't degraded much further in the past couple of weeks (since I stopped using 3rd, 4th and 5th  )

Got to get it sorted within 2 months though, because that's when I'm supposed to be driving to Germany with a fully loaded car

This house moving business is so much more stressful if you actually plan it, especially if you end up waiting until less than a week before your move-in date for confirmation that you've got the house

Still, gives me time to get settled into the new place. I can also replace the wing mirror, sort out the stereo, and maybe even wash it in the meantime

I'll be doing the clutch on the tubby pretty soon, I've hopefully got a mechanic friend involved who's got access to a garage lift; I'll be his apprentice for the day! (armed with camera of course!)

Think I may have wasted my money on the battery

Not had time to fit it yet (probably end up doing it at the petrol station or shops next time I can't start it), but I've discovered the V6 has issues with its crankshaft pulley where the outer section breaks away from the inner part and can slip, which would cause alternator issues as well as the strange power steering problem I've got.

When I get a chance to look at the car I'll have to get the arch liner off and slap some tippex on the pulley. Actually, the coupe's got a lot more room in the engine bay. Wonder if I can get my hand to the pulley without taking the wheel off... I've got a handy extending dentists type mirror which'll let me have a look from up top too...

New clutches are awesome - Its going to be like "Wow, why didn't I do this ages ago".... :P

I should make a thread about my car soon - I'm going to be doing a bit of restoration + improvements on it! Needs some cosmetic surgery after a Nissan Terrano/Pathfinder hit it :(

Finally found time to do this:

27. New battery fitted

Hint for anyone who wants to disconnect the battery without the alarm going off: Switch the ignition on and hold the alarm button down for a couple of seconds until it flashes rapidly. Now your alarm is completely disabled until the next time you use the plip to lock+unlock the doors.

This is in contrast to disabling the internal ultrasonic sensors, which is done by holding the button after switching the ignition off

I think I need to re-add interior mirror to the list  I turned it on last night as I was on the motorway, and it didn't dim

actually... wonder if the BSI's taken a disliking to the new battery and decided to keep the reverse line to the mirror high...
