mine does the same, bloody annoying  , im used to buying non perishables in bulk fairly much as a norm, but oh no the mrs wants to only get enough for a few days, as she "needs to go shopping anyway" but forgets its now -20 outside and carrying bags up to the house from the car is bad enough when the snow is over 2 feet deep and slippy as feck, so why make yourself do it 3 or 4 times a week when the bulky stuff like water, loo rolls, tinned stuff etc etc could all be hauled up once or twice a month at most.

and ExecHdi stop being so bloody tight and just buy the right stuff in the first place, here its not an option to get cheap and dilute it, if you do that you have no washers, my sodding Disco is going through about 8 litres a week at the moment and right now im on the -32 stuff thats only 19 zloty per 4 litres so about a quid a litre, but by january i will have to get the -60 stuff thats twice the price  , i think its time to disconnect the headlight washer pump on the disco, all it seems to do is turn the snow and ice on the front blue anyway.

*Checks location again... yep, still in Croatia*

There's very little of that here, we have some frozen stuff delivered by a company that does just deliveries but they're quite expensive. I can actually get a pizza delivered. Only they're shut now. And they charge for it handsomely

My washers are frozen this morning for the first time, so the stuff I'm using has been pretty good. This is what happens when you try to clean the screen with the lights on at 60mph in temps of -8 and the only thing that works is one headlight washer, squirted all over my light then froze solid leaving a curious effect.

Ewwwww, looks like someone got all excited  (damn we need a barf emoticon) . Praps Puggy's been thinking about Scarlet Johansson again :supafrisk:

(note the topic is in the picture)
anyhow i havent put it in as the waters frozen it also says for winter motoring use 1 part screen wash to 1 part water, define a part.
it also says for extreme cases use undiluted.
I dont know what 1 part is, if the washer resivoir was empty could it all be chucked in

This thread title is deceptive

I'm just using neat concentrate at the moment, and not hitting the washer until the heater's blowing hot. Works ok as long as you slap the wipers on full pelt to get it off the screen before it freezes...

You mean 100% of this stuff, but the only issue i see there is that a bottle of this wouldnt go too far at actually filling up the resivoir tank, i think its about 3 litres as it takes 3 full kettles to fill it.

I buy it in 5 litre cans... and the 406 washer reservoir is something like 11 litres

I've been using Halfords (Apple scented) super-dooper -23deg diluted 1:3 and it's held up so far.

I can even use it do de-ice the windscreen which I've never seen before

All that means is that you mix the screen wash concentrate with water in equal amounts, i.e. if you intend to use the whole 500ml bottle of the concentrate mix it with 500ml of water so you've got 1 litre of mixed stuff to pour into your tank. That won't last you very long in this weather though...

I'd pour the concentrate into the tank then refill the bottle from the tap and pour that in too, then you've got a perfect mix (then what I'd do is refill the bottle with water and pour it in at least once more, just beware that the more you dilute the stuff the warmer it'll freeze). It's not an exact science

I also buy it in 5l containers. Don't buy "ready to use" if you can avoid it, it's a rip off, "concentrate" is much better value.
