The problem with jailbroken phones is that you download unauthorised (by Apple) apps, but when you sync the phone, all unauthorised apps are erased by Apple itunes, because they are not recognised
Nah you need to install an app called appsync and it's fine.
The screens on the iphone 4 are more fragile than the 3 series phones.
The maps don't stay on the phone using the default gps, every time you use it you need to re-download the phone. GPS will kill the battery if it's not plugged into power.
Gary - i'm not always in places where i can use my laptop...
The iphone is a great apps platform but not so great a phone.
I must admit I find my iPhone 3GS absolutely the mutts, but I suppose it's horses for courses
I've just bought the Blackberry 9780 after owning a HTC Desire.
Not disappointed. I love the openess of the Desire (Android) but it was very flakey. It wouldn't notify me of messages and the battery lasted five minutes, even with Juice Defender installed.
The Blackberry, bought it on saturday. Currently doing the battery learning so apart from a quick plug in to the USB to try and sync it, I've charged it to full and left it to die.
The first charge lasted three days. That was with me fannying around with it for hours, my girlfriend having fun with it and all of the features like push notifications, vibration etc enabled.
I'm still on the second charge ;)
The best thing I like about it is the push notifications and LED status. The Desire's LED was pants, half the time it didn't even notify me when there were about 10 sms's sitting unread.
Now I don't even need to touch the blackberry until I see the LED change. Even better, I know when to ignore it, as the lasses text/phone calls have a different colour to everyone elses ;)
my blackberry does everything perfectly, push emails are really convenient, theres no big loading session waiting for they come through the led just blinks and thats it. Battery life is about a million years and even though i have no case for it, store it along with my keys it still looks like new. Its even got 16gb so no need for an ipod. But the camera is sh*t, and the internet is slow.
On the topic of the iphone what is the point in the ipod touch.
The iPod Touch isn't a phone, it's an MP3 player with app support. You can use iPhone apps on the iPod Touch, they just use WiFi rather than the 3G network for data communications.
The iPod Touch is also considerably cheaper than an iPhone, because it's not a phone.
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.
but in not being a phone it turns it from something useful into basically a gimmick, and afterthought of the iphones development just to let apple eke more money out of the thing.
You can buy a case that simply turns the Ipod Touch into a 2G iPhone lol. Worst idea ever?!
Believe it or not, the Camera on my 9780 is fantastic and granted the internet isn't lightening fast but it's a lot better than my Desire which had 7.2mb/s.
The only downside is the tariffs for me. I was paying £15 a month for the O2 15 Simplicity. That was something like 500 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited web. Now I'm on the Blackberry 30, which is 500 mins, 500mb data and unlimited texts. Now I can't stream DI.fm in the car like I used to
