They gave up designing Golfs years ago. Every few years they just tweak the shape of the headlights and all the sheep flock in their masses to buy them "cause they're reliable innit".
As reliable as any other mid-size hatchback designed by accountants.

I suppose it gives tdi drivers some practice in a car with no turbo.
The sdi though is jokingly slow.
I never thought they blew Turbos.

On the topic of the fuel of slowness, the fiat panda is available with a tractor engine:

but i wouldnt want one its not a proper small fiat.

I had an X reg Polo SDi for a couple of months & found it to be a great little runaround. Driving non-turbo diesels is an art. A friend had a non-turbo Berlingo that he complained was gutless. Went for a drive with him & he was tharashing it in every gear. I drove back & he said it felt quicker. The difference? I changed gear at just over 3000rpm each time.

That Panda diesel looks like an absolute bargain to me. There aren't many cars where you can buy a 5/6 year old diesel for £2500.

Citroen ZX diesel was a non-turbo XUD. You had to learn how to keep the momentum on the motorway. Was a great wee car, if very slow.

Here is a ruined van

I'm glad he specified that it isn't an Audi, Seat, BMW, Bora, Golf, A4, A3, Leon ,"Mk 5" or a 306, because I often get confused between all of them and a small Peugeot van.

"wouldn't need much for MOT, afew tires and exhaust needs fix, have another one there for it, but no time to get it on" = avoid.

I quite like the look of the Civic, and I'm not just saying that cause I'm some sort of Honda fanboy now. Always did, they're distinctive, the type of thing Citroen should be making. The front grille in particular is SM-like.

The Citroen C4 coupe too, very distinctive. Although they're to replace it with a much fussier design in the DS4.

Other than that I'm not sure if there is any car in the mid-size hatchback segment that floats my boat.

The Guiletta would be a looker if it had 159/Brera style lights.

These "8C" style big googly lights that they are putting on the MiTo, Guiletta and the 159 just ruin the look.

As they own Jeep now, they also have an Alfa SUV planned.

Brand dilution.
