a syphon tube seems like a good idea if you fill past the max point and need to take a bit of oil out.
It will near be a year since i did the oil in the pug i plan to do it soon, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, and ill try a bit of that egr cleaner if i can get some.
The 406 is a bit low to get at the sump bolt but doable.
Moden cars pack their engine bays too much, my suzuki has a lot of empty space but ive got old car maintancence books must be the late 70s but engine bays were so easy worked round on things like old corollas or escorts it was all so nicely laid out.

sump plug is in a bit of an awkard place, iagree

withought raising the car alittle you end up taking skin off your hands undoing the thing

ithink there easy to work on frank.
work on some vauxhalls. or do as ido work on Audis 4 days a week and youl change your mind on the statement the 406 is awkward as in it cutting your hands.. Turbo access wise there a pain (cramped).

all modern cars are ackward, the engine bay of the 406 i will admit is nicer to work around than a golf or passat, and working with trim is much easier on a 406.
The fiat panda had very good access in the engine bay, two years ago i really should have attempted to replace the engine myself instead of ending landed with a clio.

i didnt put coolant in it  and the rest you can guess yourself.
although the head gasket had failed it simply lost water it still ran nicely, and after some k seal it seemed to hold the water ok. But my dad wouldnt let me keep it and insisted i bought a clio because he heard they were related to a micra which he thinks are reliable.
After getting a bit of experience from about 4 suzukis and that pug i wouldnt mind the chance to change the engine in the panda.

it probably explains the lack in performance, a small capacity 8v petrol engine these days is a bit useless, they should be selling 16v versions at least. But what it lacked in technology it made up with noise, and its brutally simple so easy to work on.
the engine in the panda mk2 was different from the 80s one in it had fuel injection, big step eh?
as for the comfyness, my cousin said about the mk1 'the most uncomfortable bastid ive ever sat in'

Theyre a fairly nippy engine,
ive seen one wound up in a mk3 punto. they can do a good 110mph.
there a bit like an unbalanced automatic washing machine on full spin at that speed tho

Theres nowt wrong with fiats mate,
id have another fiat Marea in a shot if wernt for the Frikin cam belts on them,
insurance is a bit dearer than the 406 too strangely,
ihave to walk away from the Alfa-fiat thing at times its so Tempting,
thinking of the 406s excellent mpg keeps me from going back to one too, altho ido get bored with it somedays,
and think what the feck ave igot that for,

Your dad made you get a Clio because they are related to the Micra?

That's like saying that you bought an Alfa Arna because they worked with Nissan on it

And I've heard shocking stories of Micras and Navaras engines blowing.
