Farmer, maybe that room wasn't fully dried out before the new floor went down? but also the expansion gap is important with some laminates.

I've fitted loads of laminate on a DIY basis and replacing the skirting board does give the best look BUT removing the old skirting can rip massive chunks of plaster off and require re-plastering and redecoration so you're always best to do this early on rather than after you've painted the walls

Something else to remember is that you'll end up with your new floor down before you've finished with the painting so need to take care protecting it all.

How do you painter guys get on with this? you bang the floor down and then fit the skirting, pre-painting the skirting doesn't give the best finish imo because you've still got the cutting-in against the wall/joints to do and using caulking looks messy to me.

I always neatly caulk the skirtings/architraves, emulsion down to the line, and then use the final glossing to give the finished cut-in to the wall and over the caulking.

yup the painting was all done before the floor, the walls had to be sraped first the old paint just peeled off. then a dehumidifier was rented out for a week, some more weeks passed and then the new flooring went down. The concrete must have held in a bit of moisture.

I've just had fun

Immersion in hot water tank went up the swanny at 16:20 yesterday afternoon

Had to go Merthyr Tydfil this morning, so finished work at 4pm and went to plumbers merchant and bought a new one
Got home, turned off the water supply, and turned all the taps on in the place
They all finished, so went to take immersion out, and a trickle of water started coming out, so put 3 large bath towels down in front of it
Suddenly, gushing out, so put immersion back in
Trickle was still coming out, so just grabbed a bucket, and had to keep unscrewing and screwing the immersion and 3 buckets later, it stopped
Made a bit of a mess, and it looks like some water has got under the laminate

Just having a bit of a break before cleaning up a bit more
Do have a dehumidifier, so i'll crack that out
Hopefully hasn't dmamged the laminate too much

ive redone all my house myself as well. painting , decorating. floors. doors , skurting boards. do it all myself. not paying no1 to do that a monkey can do it all

the way i did all rooms was rip the lot out 1st job (obviously)
lay the new floor is the 1st job
then fix new skirting boards and arkitraves. then caulk them all round.
good masking tape around the floor to paint skurting boards

wallpaper or painting fresh plastered walls is the last job because its the least messy job.

its all easy work its just time consuming that annoys me

Matt paint is ok in a modern house,
in a old house matt paint yellows very quickly even if theres no smokers in the house,
its the old type plaster in this house iwas going to gut it but its a mission, and the old type walls are full of horse hair its not fun to remove,
