[quote]I have to ask, what have you used to get your estate so low?! I'm tempted to do something similar but all I can find on eBay in regards to coilovers is this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-RACELAND- ... 20b8d55a6b

Hi mate:)
Yes it's understandably difficult to find aftermarket performance items for the 406, I didn't find coilovers at the time i was searching, but also i haven't heard of RACELAND before, so I don't know what kind of quality they are.
They do seem quite cheap for coilovers tho... The listing does not mention what spring rates are included, or whether you can request particular rates to suit your needs... The dampers are not adjustable rebound, so it depends if you would want to be able to make adjustments to improve handling (eg. on a track day), or just to improve the looks of your car.
Also the rears are not coilover which I would like for mine next if I can find a set that can be made to fit.
I guess for the price they could be worth a try, hoping they're not chinese s**t

The way I did it was to fit on the rear, some short Bilstiens which I had lying around off an OLD project lol, which allowed me to shorten my rear springs by 1 coil at a time until it was lowered by 80mm... (I need to fit some stiffer springs at some point cus the 235/35/19 tyres catch the wheel wells when loaded or landing after jumps)
Then on the front I fitted Koni adjustable struts, then modified the spring top mount to accept narrower 300lb springs ( instead of the 60lb standard 1's), then shortened them until i had the 80mm drop. I then modified the strut top mounts to give the desired pre tension, and raised the bonnet to allow clearance until I have time to make a 'hopefully tasteful' Carbon bonnet.
This set up is very stiff on the front, and greatly increases roll stiffness and turn in response, which in turn induces excessive understeer when laying down the 300lbft torque after the apex of a bend. So next I made some bespoke brackets to increase rear roll stiffness which helps somewhat, but this will be improved further when I research some springs with higher rate for the rear, unless I locate some coilovers as i mentioned before.
Oh and scraping the speed bumps was novel until the 19's raised the car an inch and i tucked the exhaust up a little lol:)
At some point on my list I have some strut braces to design and make for the upper rear, and lower front...
Hope this helps, and have fun !
