Re: My New Car
It looks like the earliest C5s have the 2.2 136 and the facelifted ones get the 2.2 174 and a centre console from the 407.
Both look pretty revolting inside compared to a 406 -- and most 406s look a bit shabby compared to Waue's.
I don't understand why an old shape C5. What am I missing?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Re: My New Car
Was very comfy to drive. Big wafty automatic diesel.
The warning lights on the MFD, that that crooked dealer putting the price up £400 because I showed interest in it put me off.

My old man was interested in it but you were talking to bayles and plod 'bout it so he went and got a nasty Astra thing insteadwaue1978 wrote: It can't be that adorable - nobody was interested in buying it.

Re: My New Car
Is it the Izuzu engine? Honda used it, which is why the Accord forum says to avoid the diesels

Re: My New Car
fairly sure the Z17DTL is a vaux re-work of the old isuzu X17DTL 1.7TD (much better engine than the GM low-blow of the time circa 1995ish)
Ive changed 2 of these engines in the last 4 weeks, none over 100k, i have a astramax (sportive) van (2005, 94,000 miles) at the moment with recessed valves, rattling camshafts, low oil pressure, leaking injector, knackered turbo ... every breakers locally sells these engines as soon as they become available, but to be fair there no worse than the vauxhall 1.9td's
i think the 2.0 DTi (Y20DTL) is the best of the vaux diesels, ok less power per CC, but a much more reliable unit

I thought the post 2004 dpf-equiped poxhalls were Fiat JTD's in disguise? Fairly sure the 1.9's are.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Re: My New Car
i know the ambulance service over here tried out astra estates with a 1.9 fiat engine, my dad said they were scary fast but were not safe with the power, and they turned out not to be overly reliable either so they chose the TDi engined octavia scouts instead.
Re: My New Car
yeah the 1.9 is Fiat i think, its deffo the same engine they use in the alfa JTD's & fiat stilo's & chroma's & of course saabs. my mate has a 2005 vectra with this engine, and to be fair its a powerful unit, shame he needs to spend £650 on a new manifold & swirl flap actuatordogslife wrote:I thought the post 2004 dpf-equiped poxhalls were Fiat JTD's in disguise? The local cops are trying out disAstras, they must be demonstrators as they're on English plates eg. i thought the police were mainly skodas, definatley round here there is a lot of silver octavias, or the remains of ford mondeos and vectras.sirwiggum wrote:The local cops are trying out disAstras, they must be demonstrators as they're on English plates eg.
