cheers,

ive had alook at the clutch cable, its a strange how they are located they go down the bulk head and under and over the steering rack and clip in place, the length of it dont look right either, looks whay to long,
dont know if thats how they are sposed to be, but iwill be looking into getting a cable a inch or 2 shorter,

pivot bolt is fine at the gearbox end, its just mega hard on the pedal,

Citroen owners - yes. We have a C3 1.4 8v which I bought for my sister the other week. :cheesy:

Possibly the slowest car in the world, but its the best car around for inner city driving and the like + it's got the "cute" factor, which was the main selling point.

With the Xantia, have to say I did have to replace the accelerator cable because it wasn't coming back off the revs in sync with the pedal.

Another one bites the dust!
the zara is dead

sent it back to the dealer this morning hes just phoned me to say im very sorry but we will have to offer you another car,
the xsara is a uneconomical repair, and will require at least 36 hours work to put it right,

then he said we have a replacement car for you it will be ready in a day,
then the bad news, sorry its a Xsara but its slightly diffrent, then the word Piccasso came out, FFS im not happy :(

theyve paid out a few quid too at the citreon dealership too trying to get the zara sorted,

along list of repairs came back,

: possible crack in cylinder head,
:oil leak on sump,
:rear suspension bushes,
:exhaust needs all new mounts,
:incorrect clutch cable fitted,
:Battery needs replacement, not holding volts,
front nearside drive shaft gaiter none exsistant,
:radiator has leak,
there was a few things else too but icarnt remeber what else he said iwill get a copy of the report off him shortly,

the car was one he took in on px on a c5 so most probs theyve K-sealed the head to make it last longenough to get rid,

Whilst an egg on wheels may not be to everyone's taste, it has to be said that a Picasso would probably be worth a fair bit more than a standard Xsara so I don't think you've done too bad out of it.

Any more details on the Picasso? Age, engine, mileage etc?

They do seem to be useful family cars if you need the room and space. Should hold a good resale value to get something proper.

its just a basic piccaso ithink, Lx with posh wheel trims,
mileage 86k.
1.6 engine,
its on a 51 plate,

theres allsorts of weird things in it, like a trolley that clips in the boot for shopping :?

the only good thing is its in Wicked red too so atleast the colours nice,

imight just sell on my van now and just use this for my dogs, it seems bigger than the van,

my uncle had one when they first came out on mobility iremeber him saying they have faults on the gearstick with them being in a daft place so iwill get the dealer to look into this and see if everythings ok,

im not going to be impressed driving this idont think, it will be like driving a ford Ka something you get in and out of very quicky to avoid embarasment,

my wife is giving me greif over getting it shes not impressed, she liked the other zara, as she couid drive it,
this piccaso thing ithink wouidnt last 2mins if she drove it :(

I don't believe they have the right to refuse you a refund. They sold you a product that was defective; I believe under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 that if they sell you a product that is not fit for purpose, they must give you your money back if you ask for it.

The Sale of Goods Act also covers second-hand goods that are being traded by registered businesses. If you've bought the car from a dealer, and were assured that there was nothing wrong with the car before you bought it, you are protected by this legislation.

From the list of faults you've described, I don't believe that car would even pass an MOT, which I would class as the basic litmus test for checking if cars are fit for purpose.

Don't take "no" for an answer; if the dealer won't refund you, then he is infringing on your rights as a consumer and you have the right to sue.

Is it related to door locks or child locks? Seems like a family-car thing to do.

I've bought second hand cars from dealers before with 'Sold as seen' on the receipt.
Including the infamous Orion.

By law they can't do that. the car must be fit for purpose unless otherwise advertised.
