I don't know if there's something wrong with the handbrake in my 405 - but for periods of time, if I applied it while travelling any faster than 2/3mph it would grab the back of the car to a halt instantly and cause a really loud bang as the rear-end came down- doing it while going backwards caused my girlfriend at the time to scream as we'd set of reversing towards a woman walking a pushchair and it genuinely did feel like the worst outcome had occurred xD! har har har harWelly wrote:Mine always had an enormous amount of 'nothing' during the lever's travel and then it would sort of lurch into a locked position. Felt like everything attached to the lever was 'loose'.
Best handbrake's evAr are the ones fitted to the drums of a Ford KA/Fezza they are really grippy.

Re: Failed the MOT
the best handbrake ever was the fiat panda it was superb it could do a handbrake turn on anything and it was great fun with the city mode steering on and in the snow, you could steer with one finger and concentrate on the handbrake

Re: Failed the MOT
Handbrake turn in a panda, thatd be brave,
irember the old pandas,-the ones with the crappy deck chair style seats being very light,
they was easy to get on 2 wheels they was not far off the same weight as a plastic pig,

Re: Failed the MOT
the panda does look quite high but it handles hand brake turns as good as any other car no more roll than normal, and all great fun.
I like the look of this for some fun in the snow:
