Cream cloth always looks mucky. I find dark colour with a pale interior generally to be a bit strange. Red with cream leather FTW

So what's the worst that can happen if I go and look at that red 136?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

You end up buying a £400 D9 V6 and spend the rest of time wondering what the hell you're going to do with it!

Plan is to go have a look (unfortunaately, not with PP2k). If it's not complete junk then I'll leave it at "if you don't get a bid then give me a call..."

If someone bids then I'm happy that it's gone to a good home.
If I go and see it then I've satisfied my curiosity.

Plus I have a pitifully small budget.

(To paraphrase, I'm tight -- I do run a HDi 90 afterall)

well no, there isn't. It's very capable. I get more pleasure out of it being cheap to run than I ever could out of going fast now and again. Grass is always greener I guess.

exacty -- and especially with that 136. I'm expecting it being riddled with problems. Silly stuff like the fog light and seat I'm happy sorting. DPF and injectors aren't scary thanks to doggy's excellent write-ups, but factor in strut top bearings, engine mounts, and a cam belt and water pump and you're getting into serious money...

Well I just spoke to the guy and am off to look at it tomorrow. Says he's had it since 90k which is promising. Anyway, we shall see...

Tax is due at the end of the month, MOT is feb and it needs three tyres (its on 205/60 R15) and a back box. So that's over £300 to spend on it straight off.

The bodywork is poor -- even by my standards. The interior (cloth) just needs a good vac, although it would benefit from a new steering wheel. It's the seat back movement that isn't working so that's not urgent.

What I really didn't like is the puddle of oil at the bottom of the intercooler.

Had the head re-built 50k ago, although it seems like a reputable place that did it, and 50k miles to prove that it's good, so I think maybe this isn't so much of an issue.

No obvious problems with engine mount or DMF, but they're original...

So I guess it's make my mind up time.

Our 136 has oil at the bottom of the intercooler as well. I assumed it was normal since it's the lowest point in the intake system and some is bound to blow past the turbo seals.

Idont' think it was too bad at 400quid,

any car at that price is going to need abit of work/tidying up ,
abit of time and elbow grease sorts that no problem.

Road tax, expensive but Most cars under 500 quid normaly come with none at all,
