They say that you should spend a months wages on an engagement ring  BUT there's more at play here, you're young and saving for a house, so you need to have a discussion with the wife to be about what kind of ring she wants and what kind of money you're going to spend.

Sorry to be so sensible when I feel I really should be trying to wind you up...

I think. £300 to £400 should suffice for now. I can go all out on a wedding ring when the time comes.

And yes Dai, you are being very suspiciously sensible. :supafrisk:

Wedding rings can be less expensive though, you can get a nice gold band (9ct) starting from less than a ton, of course you can pay a packet for them too  . I really like the Clogau Welsh Gold stuff. The Wife's got her grandmother's wedding ring so that didn't cost me a penny :supafrisk:

In an engagement ring, it's the rock that costs the money! I used to work in H Samuels though, so had 25% discount!

No, just the 2 retail jobs mate. Worked at Halfrauds from 16 then gave that up to go to Uni but soon realised that I needed some money to spend on beer whilst in Uni so got the Samuels job, which I kept until I got my first real job!! Fek me no wonder I look so old!!
