Re: A new project that definitely isn't beige
New matrix arrived this week but had to wait until today to get some time to do the work! This has all been documented by FarmerPug (thank you so much!), so I didn't bother too much.
I did use a rope and ratchet to hold the dash out of the way whilst the matrix is removed. I dropped the blower motor out of its housing to gain a millimetre or two more clearance.
Old matrix out
Leak visible top right of the matrix in this pic. Explains why I had a leak from that corner but not from the seam in HSpw's thread :good:
New one in
New seals fitted even though the old ones were only a week or two old, since the new matrix came with spares. Surfaces cleaned and greased with red rubber grease as last time.
Took the opportunity to clean up the inside a bit and replace a load of trim.

Nicely done.
(I never seem to be able to reassemble an interior without leaving some sign I've done it).
Let's hope that's the end of the cooling system issues.

David Dickinson, nice. "Cuprinol for Men", as one of the Radio 4 comedy shows once said
In other news, she needed a new exhaust and the handbrake adjusting. And just as I turned into the MOT centre, "BONG" antipollution fault
One quick phonecall and trip to a Peugeot dealer later + a quick coil swap, and....
Advisories for front brake hoses and gas struts, both easily sorted

What on earth causes an anti-pollution fault on a V6? Did the computer only just realise it was connected to a large capacity petrol engine & think to itself "Hang on, shouldn't I be in a diesel?"jonsowman wrote:David Dickinson, nice. "Cuprinol for Men", as one of the Radio 4 comedy shows once said

Been using it this week, 35mpg over 250 A-road miles. Quite respectable (for the engine) I think.

Sensibly coloured 'Beige' car....check

Beaded seat cover....check

Anyone got some recommendations for 22" alloys, window tints and a bodykit?

I'm really confused now - is beige, or vanilla?jonsowman wrote:Been using it this week, 35mpg over 250 A-road miles. Quite respectable (for the engine) I think.

Who knows. Take your pick from beige, vanilla, gold, champagne, sandDoggy wrote:I'm really confused now - is beige, or vanilla?

It's interesting* that it was sold as "Solstice Gold" in the UK but "Beige Solstice" in France, probably because of the connotations "beige" has in English...

Well, as of Wednesday, she's gone
I suspect I shall regret having to sell it at some point, but it's the only sensible thing to do right now, and it was a fun project
