you will need a complete standalone management otherwise it will never run, as the stock T5 ecu uses so many inputs from other modules, and make sure to get an engine from a manual, the auto ones only put out 225bhp whereas the manual ones put out 240bhp, or 250bhp with 30 seconds of overboost

the auto difference will only be mapping anyway, the power is limited due to them not wanting to pop gearboxes every 10 mins.the engine itself is not any different., overboost is just controlled via the ecu using an amal valve as most turbo cars are so again not really a big deal

it probably wouldnt make much difference on the auto anyway, i usually condem one auto 'box a week

but i thought megasquirt was piggyback, theres no way on earth to wire up an engine from a post 1998 T5 with the stock ecu

megasquirt is a complete engine management setup, controls fuel and ignition.
has boost control,(with a complete boost map)
launch control,
traction control
flat shift (more friendly version of antilag)
ability to control nitrous and water injection.
+ tonnes of other stuff too

you can run it pigy back if you want just controlling fuel and letting the stock ecu control spark or vice versa, but it is completly stand alone if you want it to be, and is in my 306, (theres no original wiring in my engine bay at all )
