Totally agree welly !! I would like to thank mj on his review of the V6 i found it very informative,
a short review of a car that i have not driven but can actually afford :P have toyed with the idea
of a V6 for a while as a second car and mj's review has made my mind up that if i come across a
good one and i can persuade my mate to let me use part of his drive to keep it on i may well take the step :cheesy:
As for criticising his review thats well out of order, this aint top gear the guy's on here drive what they
can afford to and take pride in those vehicles so what use is a road test of something costing £30k or
£40k or even more ?? no fooking use other than to pass the time !!! and as for pig in a poke ... i paid
£2200 for my 406 had it re mapped and now my mate who has got a gtdi golf thingy can get away from
till about 60 after that am all over him like a fooking rash and he paid £10k and what's it got that mine
hasn't ?? fook all in fact less toys
this forum and the guys on it are great for giving down to earth help and advice with a little bit of
humour thrown in hope it stays that way...

Hear hear Puggy.

I tell you what mjb, you've made me incredibly jealous! What's it like on the old go go juice?
Should you ever feel the need for having a rear windscreen wiper let me know, I've got all the kit for it and can never see myself bothering to do it

Dunno yet. On paper it's more efficient than my tubby was, but until I get a few quid in the bank, a full tank of fuel, and a long motorway trip I can't say. The latter part's going to be the problem I think - country lanes + v6 = too much fun ;)

On the coupe owners club it seems the V6s have all the wiring already there for the trip computer - they just need the stalk. I'll be checking the connector out as soon as I remember and hopefully rushing straight off to ebay!

Why did nobody tell me "don't do it!!!"?

I just spent the best part of 4 hours changing it and if the result was ok I wouldn't have minded too much - but it's not!

Getting the old one off wasn't a problem - I just unhooked the back box and it snapped off. The centre section's front end was mint so that gave me no trouble whatsoever. Getting the new one on was the painful part! Firstly the clamps they delivered to me turned out to be far too big - able to spin freely when fully tightened. This wasn't such a problem at the front because I just hooked the back on and re-used the old one. The back was a bitch though.

The thing is, the centre section needs to be heated and bent into shape - it's about 7 degrees and half an inch off being able to mate cleanly with the back box :( Since it was half 7, night time in the middle of a deserted carpark, I had to botch the joint using an exhaust repair bandage (finally found a use for them!) and one of the over-sized clamps held on at an angle to pull the parts together.

The result is it's blowing in the middle and worst of all the tailpipe is hanging too high so it's melting my damn bumper :( I've also ruined my jumper and jeans shuffling along under the car (wish i had a mini now!)

Think I'll jack the back up tomorrow and use some wire or something to hold up the back/centre joint so it stays off the bumper. I can't do anything else until saturday :(

I *JUST* managed to fit under there with a small light in my mouth.

That was "Exhaust back box has a crack in the side and is blowing slightly". Hmph. :( He forgot the gaping hole in the side, and the one in the top, and at the bottom, and the centre pipe that disintegrated when i touched it... urgh bad day :(

Yep, great looking car.

Umm, if they sold you the wrong clamps, maybe they sold you the wrong exhaust too? Or maybe they need to say in their ads "our exhausts are so cheap because they don't fit!" Either way, give the buggers hell.

Yeah gotta agree with that, it should fit! It doesn't need twisting does it? If it's touching the bumper at the back and out of line in the middle you might find that turning it a bit either way will line both up :? The other thing the "pros" do regularly is bend the brackets to get it to hang right

Yes I do like your ramp by the way!!! 8)

M, nice pics. Love the ramp! That exhaust is in a really bad way.. it's not a hole in there, it's gap!

Nah it doesn't mate up in the other axis - to exaggerate, if I were to mate the back box and center perfectly, then the tailpipe would be coming out of the side of the car, not the rear :(

The centre pipe needs heating and bending a bit at the end of the straight bit. I'll wait until friday and get National Tyres to do it, as long as I haven't melted my bumper off by then ;)

Holy sh1t mjb, that box is as rotten as a year old pork chop!
It's a shame they don't make pipe springs in that diameter :(

Very tasty looking motor though 8)
That wall will be perfect for the old coolant replacement too!

Let me know if you're interested in the rear windscreen. I've got the glass, the motor & gaskets & the arm.

Aye, especially with a drainage channel a couple of foot back from the railings leading to a drain!

You may have all that, but I won't have the money for a good few months yet :(

There's no hurry Matt, I've got to face the horrendous task of tidying the garage at some point; if you are interested I'll file it somewhere safe :)
Hopefully Captain Jack will have that bumper off me and I won't have too many car bits cluttering the garage! Just bike bits instead!
