heh being someone who grew up on the Internet (starting around 1993 long before it got popular!) I've been to my fair share of meets (50+ of the things) and tbh your opinion of someone doesn't tend to change even if the guy/gal looks the polar opposite of what you expected, as long as the personality's the same

The second you detect anyone's been pretending to be someone they're not though, they sortof instantly get labelled ;)

Damn, all my excuses have vapourised :( Now I'll have to find a picture where I've still got some hair. Hmm...

1995, they dumped a pc on my desk, I'd never touched one before but then my boss broke his ankle and I didn't have anything else to do... I used to go up town with loads of office-types, meet up, get drunk, dance a bit, find your way home before the trains stop running.

I mostly avoided Trumpet Windsock because I didn't use a PC until a few years later. Back then I used an Acorn A3010 bought from a whole years worth of paper round money (£600 at £13/week)

I did Elite & Revs- they were great.
Re-did Elite about 2-3 years ago with a pc Beeb simulation - almost as good, but I got to Elite status in a couple of weeks, took me a few months the first time.
I was a fairly old hand by the time Beebs came along, started on Commodore Pets about MCMLXXIX.

Anyone else remember Revs :?:
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Elite was the daddy. I spent weeks becoming Elite :supafrisk: Shame the Elk version didn't have missions or Thargoids, but I guess missing that made ArcElite all the better 8)

Revs was only released on the BBC. I once tried to get it to play on my Electron with Slogger Master RAM Board (could switch between a standard Elk setup and a second PCB with faster CPU and 64k accessible RAM although no direct access to screen memory) but it didn't work

I mostly hacked around on it (how many kids nowadays have a firm grasp of assembly by the age of 7?) and played text adventures though. I've tried playing text adventures recently and I find I just don't have the patience for them any more. Shame :(

I'm obviously a bit older than you lot, was 20 something about that time, so it was TR6, Europa Special, that kind of thing. 8)
