I dunno, the first moment I saw the new one I quite liked it. Then I noticed the blue oval badge and things went down hill from there.

Anyone looking to buy a Mundano should read the Honest John, and you thought 406s were bad...

I'm only doing it because we want one car with back doors. And the one I'm looking at is an ST diesel.

The 206 is on autotrader and the 406 advertised here and other websites.

If I'm completely honest, I'm hoping neither will sell (my head is completely in the shed at the moment)

Hey peeps,

Went to see that 1999 HDi exec and it was mint. Inside was immaculate and was literally brand new. The leather looked like noone sat in it - ever. Outside had a few stone chips though and some very minor scruffs. I drove it and it was lovely - very quiet and reminded me why I fell in love with the 406 in the first place! However, the guy selling it (allegedly a dealer) was very dodgy, would provide a 2 month warranty "if I wanted it" and would not drop from £3k to £2k as that's what he was advertising the car for weeks ago. It's only done 35k mile but it looks like it hasn't been driven at all in the past 4 years. Was last serviced at 34k miles in 2005! Apparently the guy who owned it passed away and it was sold via solicitors or something.

Needless to say, I won't be going for it but will go look at some more next week as I neeeeed the car by the end of next week. My mum's yellow diesel Clio doesn't really do it for me.

if you keep your eye on ebay you can get a car with short tax+mot for about £20. Why not grab one while you look for the 406 of your dreams? :)

Welp, I got one.... it's the black one. He didn't want to budge on the price, so I only got £250 off :( Still, it's a cracking motor, very good condition, engine is spotless. Has some very minor stone chips on the bonnet but nothing interesting.

I must say, the engine is incredibly lazy. Nothing like my old 2.1TD unit. But very smooth and gentleman-like. Gotta chip it!

Picking it up on Saturday - fingers, thumbs and toes crossed for everything!
