Occasionally files might fall out of other people's pooters and on to my hard drive, but I assure you it's entirely by accident. The fact that I've almost filled my new terrabyte hard drive is entirely coincidental :supafrisk:

Are you other techies following the Pirate Bay case? For those not in the know, Pirate Bay is a very popular Sweedish site. It hosts bajillions of torrent files which are perfectly legal in themselves, but which the likes of me could use to locate copies of files I want. The site's servers were raided by Sweedish cops once or twice and now the four owners have been banged up for a year and fined millions of euro. Of course they're appealing, but they've got the combined weight of various international copyright nazis against them. In response, Sweeden now has an official Pirate political party running for election :)

The beauty of this case is that there are many, much better torrent hosting sites out there. It takes you five years to organise and execute a law suit against one site, in which time fifty new ones have sprung up. The internet rules ^_^

My dsl line has a static ip address range, but it's speed sucks thanks to crappy bt wiring

...so I have this one as well   8)

(in case you're wondering about the high latency on the zen connection, I did it on this netbook which uses wireless and goes on the zen line on most ports. Couldn't be arsed changing my routing so ran the virgin test from another laptop which is on a wired connection and has port 80 and a few others going via virgin. using a wired connection, my latency on the dsl's about 30ms)

Guess it's the crappy BT wiring here as well, because I couldn't get any more than this with my last ISP either (Demon Internet). I'm not actually with Easynet, I'm with Sky Broadband, and I know that they have their own equipment installed in our local exchange.
