dunno if a xud wouid mate up to that box, but anything is possible,

years ago cars like that with big engine bays where getting v8s and jag engines thrown in them so the Xud route is perhaps more than possible,

there is a few v8 videos of 505s on youtube i suppose being rwd opens up that potential ive seen americans put chevvy v8s somehow in a suzuki.
but the 505 does an xud or hdi have mounting brackets to put the engine in
long ways or can the original box be adapted so the gearlinkages work if the gearbox
is moved.
the v6 hdi is always a possibility take one out of a rwd wrote off s type

But yup the dolly isn't a very manly car, but the 2cv is still such a simple car id love to fix one up.

A 505:

not a bad old car that.

tidy underneath,
ibet someone buys it and converts to diesel, that wouid make it 8 seats cheapto run and not far off being tax exempt also perhap couid be insured using classic insurance,
& still boot space with all the seats up - unlike today's sh*te 7 seaters where you either have no boot or make somebody walk to the airport...

Many of the 504 and 505's here in Australia have been shipped to the middle east for parts!

Saw a nice 504 GL during the week on my work trip - Haven't seen one on the road/registered in ages!

Don't be too hard on the A110 Westminster, (so called as it's 2912 cc straight 6 produced 110 bhp gross, or something like 77 bhp as it's measured today). It was much more about smoothness than speed.

I did manage to get one of these out of shape going over the crest of a hill on a bendy wet road at about 80 & somehow kept it out of the scenery, mainly by treating that huge wheel like an expensive piece of crystal.

Most things were much worse - Austin made A30's for example. IIRC a 2.25 litre petrol Landy took 40 seconds +, (the diesel couldn't reach 70, 0-60 was measured in minutes).

My first Poxhall Viva had a top speed of about 77, but was really nippy & could do 0-60 in a fraction under 20s.

Not everything was slow though, my bro's 1962 Jaguar 3.8 mkII managed 125 mph & 0-60 in 8.5 sec. (according to the Motor roadtest). In the early 70's it blew just about everything into the weeds, including new Rovers & Triumphs, (the Audis & BMWs of that period). He paid £80 for it!
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
