Years ago during the custom car era i had a 71' Vauxhall Ventora,i took the straight 6 lump out and put in a Rover V8,ran it in auto form for a while then converted it to a 4 speed manual from a Rover 3500s,had to make all the gearbox linkages and clutch operating mechanism, wolfrace slot mags all round and jacked up at the back! Those were the days lol.

Quite a beast - 370 bhp, 190 mph.....
I'm with Doggy on that.
May seem expensive, but it's standard with super low miles & is RHD. A lot of the Lotus Carltons you find for sale are LHD Omegas.

Ventora - wasn't that just a wide Vauxhall Victor? My Dad had an old yellow VX & years later he got a 2.3 Victor in dark red. Mum had an old green Viva (with the horizontal speedo) at the time.

No in the FD series you had the Victor,VX4/90 and the Ventora, they all shared the same body but only the Ventora was fitted with the 3.3ltr straight six engine, straight out of a bedford lorry but upped to 3.3ltr,the engined weighed about 3 1/2 tons and produced about 40bhp,no really it was a smooth engine but as lazy as a sleeping cat,it had a single downdraft Zenith carb which would have been better replace with a bucket with a hole in it as it was that uneconomical, when i fitted the V8 it made it a far better car.

Ain't that the truth.
Always puzzled me how little go it had, when you would have expected it to go like a rocket, mind you they did look the biz, both the Ventora and the gorgeous but tame HB Viva GT. I was about 13 when they both appeared in the showroom down the road & I thought they were both amazing.

2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
The ones we had were FEs. Think they replaced our Mk3 Cortina...

The FD'S were supposed to have the yank "coke bottle" design,i loved mine for the years i had it and p/x'd it on a 1971 5.7ltr Pontiac Firebird Esprit, now that was a fun car to drive,3 speed manual no power steering and no power brakes as standard went like a raped ape in a straight line but you could'nt stop it or get it round corners!

Looks like an ad on one of those sites you just tick boxes and they've just copied across. Also, either the seller is ignorant of it's not a real one - they're numbered.

Yes, and someone then bought the shell off of them and made a... Lotus Carlton. Worth far more money than a fake one as they're numbered and that you can't forge.
I remember going to see one in the showroom - awesome!
I remember my mate had a bright yellow Europa and the rear wheel sheared of somehow, the whole hub assembly with the wheel attached just snapped off.I was a capri man after the vauxhalls and had several 3.0s capris ending up with a 2.8i.Then after that went back to american stuff with a 1974 455ho (7.5ltr) Pontiac Trans Am,now that was fun!
