You could of course watch ronin, think ok i can make my 406 look like that and do the less common d9 to d8 conversion

The 406 in Ronin was a V6, as it was a D8 it would have been fitted with the ES9J4.

As for Taxi, I don't know what engine the car actually had, but supposedly the car's original engine soundtrack was replaced with that of some kind of souped-up V8. Can't recall where I read that, and I can't say I ever saw the Taxi films, so can't really comment.

The first car I remember my parents having, we had an estate though.

I won't embarrass myself by asking which... I think my folks had an estate at some point, I had loads of saloons but only 1 estate. 1979 1.6 moss green metallic, it started as a 4-speed automatic but got converted to a manual 'cos I blew the gearbox up. Oh, and I fiddled with the engine so it did over a ton.
