Mr talbots computer was unable to tell me anything useful i know that, if anyone else wants to try do it to see what happens, but i know toyota keeps a good track of stuff like this, when my dad had his mk2 avensis he was able to phone up toyota to get a full runthrough the service history of the car throught their computer to match it with his, and this confirmed the mileage and all.
does this apply to the vin number VF38BRHZFxxxxxxxx

i just copied the whole recalll thing out, good to have.

OK, according to Wiki's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Id ... ion_Number the last six digits are the sequential number. The problem spans cars with numbers 434787 to 588580 .

Yours is 470198 so that's within the band of concern :frown:

Mine's 433892 so it's just before the trouble started.

Oh no this one was a cracker, something to do with the opposite side pretensioners and airbags going off than intended. So you're in the car on your own, have a bump and the passenger site safety devices fire while the drivers one's don't, brilliant!

after saying this:

I have looked on the vosa website and there is something listed about a recall on the cooling fan with a potential for fire, i acttually have a letter with my car stating it had a recall on the bootlock.

i got this:
On our system it stated that there are no recalls outstanding or old recalls on your vehicle. If you could provide me with the campaign code and the date that you received the letter, could you also confirm that the letter with the recall campaign on it is definitely related to yourself and your vehicle

and finally i replied with this:

hello its recall refrence: R/2003/047
available on this webpage:

http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls ... nk&tx=VOSA
or this one which give an overall view of all the recalls:

http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls ... 10&tx=VOSA

What are the 3 wires to the dipping mirror for? I presumed a pos and neg, whats the third? +12vdc for the lights???
Roger that Mini, it should be very interesting :supafrisk:

The third wire (I think) is the interface with the reverse gear (to clear the mirror when reversing) ....I think!

Excellent Welly, cheers for the 3rd wire info. I have the Haynes manual here for it. Will consult the book before wiring it up.

the final corespondance from peugeot:

Thank you for your recent enquiry.

Our system states that that recall is not outstanding on your vehicle, if you would like confirmation of this we would recommend that you contact your local Peugeot Dealership. If you would like us to send you the details of your nearest Dealership please reply to this e-mail with your full postcode.

Alternatively you can call us on 0845 200 1234 or visit www.peugeot.co.uk and click on 'Find a Dealer' located on the top right hand corner of the page.

Kind regards

Robert Talbot

on the topic of the mini, ive been in a cooper s it was fiercley quick, but the ride was absolutley, unbelieveably, undeniably, woeful foul back breaking and teeth shattering.

Which, proper Mini or BMW?

So he's gone from no recalls at all to no recalls outstanding  Chocolate fireguard :frown: Anyone care to shuffle into their nearest Pug dealer and enquire? I guess it would be best if you can find a mechanic who's actually done the recall and can tell you how to tell if it's been done...

I don't think it's necessary to find the guy who did your individual car, just someone that's done some. They usually have some way of telling at a glance if recall work's been done, as I say mine has a line/splotch of white paint on the MAF connector to say it's had that recall done. They did something similar on my old Ashtray when that was recalled (under-bonnet sound deadening directing water from the bonnet straight onto the brake fluid reservoir  )

I worked for a while in a citroen garage and recalls happened frequently without any sort of indication, they just were done during the cars regular servicing, i recall something like a software update having to be done because one models cd player would run the battery down.

Doh! I was hoping they'd left a quick way of telling because even if Pug has a record of it, it's still not 100% certain they actually did it, rather than just claim for it off Pug.
