I'd imagine so

Hmmm, something about them only coming with automatic gearboxes? I suppose that depends how good the 'box is...

Yes, yes, but can you get one with a gearbox?

Doggy, look! They've been paying attention!

All new Peugeots are so popular in China now.. they buy them by the bucketload. I guess that's why there are some things we don't like about them such as wonky front end styling (Again.. thanks Peugeot :/).

Saw my first 508 today.
Actually looks better for real than in the marketing material; if a little too much like a consignia

I hadn't noticed the notches in the sides of the bonnet before -- a bit Volvo-ish.

The problem I tend to have with new cars is that the side windows start really hight up -- its like sitting in a bucket. This is why I dismissed the Audi A4 back in 2004 and chose a 406 instead: I can see out of the sides.

Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Don't get too content there, Disco - did you know you can't get a (Sinclair)X sorry, C5 estate with our beloved DW12 engine anymore?

The choice is now DT17 (1.6 HDi which only vaguely threatens a rice pudding skin on overboost).
DW10 (2.0 HDi, but with a more respectable 160 bhp).
DV6 (3.0 HDi, 240 horses, but - you've guessed it - BVM? Non!).

The bl00dy infuriating thing is the DW12 is now 200 bhp, but you can't get it in an estate, (Pug or Cistern) & when you do get it in another body style, you can't get a manual.

I think we should, 'pay dem a visit'. Maybe introduce their market analysts to Mme. la Guillotine.....

Thread resurrection, sorry, but...
http://www.peugeot.co.uk/vehicles/peuge ... t-508-rxh/

Peugeot are making a 4x4 version of the 508, called the 508 RXH. Looks to be powered by a 2 litre Hybrid4 diesel-electric engine, providing up to 200 HP between the electric motors and the HDi engine combined.

Come on Peugeot, where's the Coupe version?
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

I like the idea of a hybrid where the petrol/diesel engine is working one axle and the electric motors are working the other.

I've never driven a hybrid - I've never even driven an HDi - but I reckon the extra torque in this one would be pretty nice.

I would love to see a petrol V6 Coupe (or a 4 cylinder turbo) with electric motors on the rears.

How do you synchronise it all? Sounds to me like something to go horribly wrong - especially in a French car! Imagine if they accidentally reversed polarity to the motor  Wonder which one would win...

I don't think you need to synchronise it that much, it's not like the two engines are geared together. As you say though, it's still a lot more teknolledgy to go bang.

There's nothing about it on Service Box yet, although the Allroad version seems to have disappeared - perhaps this is it what they're going to call it now they realised VAG would be suing them...

I presume the laughably small carrying capacity tells us where the batteries hang out.

200 BHP sounds good but it's still got to lug batteries around and I doubt the motor is weightless. The best of both worlds perhaps, more like the worst... At least a family trip to the seaside won't take 3 days each way nor necessitate finding 2 hotels that'll let you plug your car in overnight.

im suprised its took this long to bring out petrol hybirds are not really as good as conventional diesels but a hybird diesel should be great for fuel economy they are using it on a 2 litre for now but in a few years if they make something like a 1.4 hdi hybird in say the 208 then 100mpg should be a realistic mpg figure.
