I'd be tempted by a mk1 XKR, you can pick these up cheap as chips now, and they look good.
Also the RX8, it has 4 doors (2+2 small ones) which is practical, and I've never driven a rotary engined car.
Saw a Brera in black in traffic the other day, and it looks stunning!

I still love the look of the 406 coupe, and even prior to 406 ownership myself, I always thought it one of the most beautiful cars on the road, especially taking into context it's value, and have often contemplated owning one.
I just think that some coupe owners are a tad blinkered in their views - current company excluded lol - it may only be natural to not liking the successor to your vehicle, as it backs up the justification of owning your car, but even so, some seem to go a little far
I remember someone having a go at the grilles on the side of the front bumper of the 407 coupe, and liking it to a basking shark
In my opinion, some of the best designed things are inspired by nature, and don't see a problem with it

Most 406 coupé owners berate everything that isn't a 406 coupé. I've even seen threads on the club forum where someone trying to sell their coupé before having to weigh it in would actually get flamed for the suggestion of scrapping the car!!! Heck, the mere suggestion that a 406 coupé would have anything in common with the 406 saloon or estate is considered a valid reason for the mods to edit/delete your posts!!!waue1978 wrote:I just think the 406 coupe owners like to berate it, in order to make them feel better about their car
Personally, my coupé is a gorgeous car, but it's not perfect. While the exterior styling is still just out of the reach of the 'dated' tag, the interior is nothing to write home about, the V6 performance doesn't match the looks and handling - while better than most 90s cars - is not fantastic by modern standards.
I've been considering its replacement recently. I'm not going to replace it until I can't economically keep it on the road any more, but when I do, I don't think it'll be another.

The only cars I'm considering really are beamers - 540, 740 (if they came in manual boxes...) or if I've got the money at the time, an M5. All from around 2000ish
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Just emailed about a Black Coupe today down in Essex.
It'[s already had an RAC inspection so going to get the report for that, and if all is good I'l go have a gander this weekend.

I think that's one of the really cool and distinctive features of the 407 Coupe design; I really like the gills. It's the wide mouth on the front I'm not too keen on, if they could have done something else with the front grille then it would have been a much more visually-appealing car.Plod wrote:I remember someone having a go at the grilles on the side of the front bumper of the 407 coupe
As for being disappointed about my car's successor - I felt like that when I had the 406 saloon and saw the 407 saloon for the first time, and again, for the same reason - that front grille! That would make me not want to trade my 406 saloon in for a 407.
Whereas if I owned, say, a Jaguar S-Type, and saw the new XF (which is the formal replacement for the S-Type) then I'd be quite delighted as the XF is a nicer-looking car all round - again, in my humble opinion.
If Peugeot had gone from the 406 to the 508, then I would probably have been happier to switch, as I really like the 508's styling; it looks very classy, and I'd really love to see them make a 508 Coupe.
Black is a nice colour for the 407 Coupe. They also came in a really dark blue which is good too. Hope you find one you likeBailes1992 wrote:Just emailed about a Black Coupe today down in Essex.

Don't forget the deFAP too. Could also be something to bear in mind that it may be worth getting one of the earlier 407 coupes. I've a sneaky feeling that these MOT regs for the cats & particle filters are more relevant for 2008 on vehicles. Can't remember where I saw that, but 2008 definitely sticks in my head over it.highlander wrote: Hope you find one you likeand then remap it

Will get one and just keep the eloys topped up for the time being. When I start getting issues or I can start getting better insurance quotes after a remap then I will get the DPF removed and a good remap and may even blank the EGR.
