My new servo was fitted today, and my FAP was also removed and 'made better' with only a hammer, screwdriver and 1hour of perseverance.....

Image

I took the before picture as I was amazed how blocked up the filter was, and this amount of soot was all the way through it..... I forgot the after picture but I guess you have all seen a cleaned out FAP before.

The vacuum layout works just fine, thank you to everyone who offered hints and tips along the way, all I need to do now is grow a pair and have a go at flashing the ECU....

Its now taxed, so I can use it for work and start 'tinkering' in my lunch hour.. 8)

Only the electric front passenger window, comms unit, intercooler/Nicopipe then MOT to do before I decide to keep or sell on.

Time for another update...

I removed the intercooler, top pipe, bottom pipe and Nicopipe from my old 406 to my new 406, which by the way is starting to grow on me.... :cheesy:
Image
Much better - I just need to put the air doser and heat exchanger etc back onto my old car so it is mobile.

I also tackled the standard fuel-flap problem in my lunch hour today - I nicked, er I mean 'borrowed' a spring from our tool hire dept, cut it in half and put the 2 bits behind the torx screws...
Image

Also put a new battery in the remote fob and reprogrammed it with the key in ignition sequence and bobs your uncle - remote now works, sadly the chip in the key doesn't...

I also looked at the passenger window and to why it doesn't work viewtopic.php?f=28&t=22174 and I'll need a replacement.. :(

On the plus side - I gave it a wash and it comes up quite nice.. 8)

Quite pleased with it so far.

You may have noticed I didn't photograph the side with the damaged door and all the scratches...

I was just about to say I quite like his idea, I went for the clothes peg option about 2 years ago and it's still going strong.

Right time to read the first 3 pages to see what he's been up to... I kinda o skipped to page 4 but have a spare half hour for once.

Well, the comms unit has been fixed by the chap in Bradford who is highly recommended and it is winging its way back to me.

The window motor was replaced earlier and was a very easy fix, while I had time I adjusted the rear drivers side door so it fits flush with the frame, and scraped the crud off the horn contacts ready for refitting the comms unit.

Aux belts/pulleys and MOT next on the list - it runs out in 10 days... :?

Good stuff.

Since we're at Pugfest -21 and counting, do you know which of the 'magic fleet' will be joining the Prescott Hillbillies this year?

Ha ha, I'm hoping it will be the China Blue, and I'm also hoping a kind gentleman will wave his magic Galletto over its ECU..... 8)

Both cars MOTs expire before Pugfest so its crunch time - I'll chat to Ade to see if he is interested in the engine/gearbox from the exec.

Sounds like good progress Kelv, looking forward to having a look over the new one at Pugfest :cheesy:

Also have a Galletto and can remap for you if required

Okay - I'll wait until Pugfest and hope a kind and confident person can put the map on, 200 maybe?

I emailed Ade regarding the engine etc from the old exec, but as I am quite far away from him it isn't really cost effective for him, so I 'may' be stripping it myself - or selling whole - not sure yet.

As for the replacement car, the comms was fitted on Saturday, the 'trigger1 and trigger2' faults have cleared but I now have an 'open circuit 1' fault which means I didn't plug it in properly....pfft  PP2000 came to the rescue and marked the airbag as 'absent' and hey presto - no airbag light.

I did spend last night putting the Hoggars from the exec onto the GLX, wiping the dash with a baby wipe, as it had an MOT today - passed with one advisory for a crack in the front number plate... :cheesy:

In my lunch hour today I removed the black sticky stuff from around the windows because I hate it.... and hopefully during the week I can install the Connects2 I got for it.

When I bring it to Pugfest, it will be exactly as I bought it, albeit a bit cleaner, different wheels and a Nicopipe.

Its starting to look quite good.. 8)
