the muck after a while leaves the yellow colour, it comes off easy engough with the tcut but i never finished it.
as for the paw prints i dont know how they got there, its too small for my dog, i think the bagel hound may have jumped up and did that, shows it didnt care about the paintwork.

i finished using that bottle of t cut:

i went round the rust spots and dabbed a good amount of galvanising paint on them:

it says it stops rust getting worse and at the moment thats all i need, leave the bodywork for another day without the jeep crumbing away.

im going to pick up an mot failed vitara tommorow the mans looking £170 which is ok because a vitara is worth that in scrap but ill try and haggle it down to £150. but at least that sorts the engine out i wont do nowt until i get a good sump though i dont want to feck this engine.

a question though the bad engine is stripped down the bit round the camshaft is held in with star heads and impossible to get out with any of my tools. but if it is stripped down how can it be put to the right timing?

and the clutch pressure plate does it need to be on at a specific torque does it need cleaned with brake cleaner

Re.timing there shouid be markers on the bottom crank pulley and cam shaft,
Preasure plate you will be ok tightening them by hand just tighten them in a sequence,

the camshaft on the wheel where the belt goes theres no marker, i dont really see anything, just the tdc marker on the pulley where the crankshaft goes to. But its not serious its the bad engine thats been taken apart im just wondering how if its completley stripped down do you know where it goes back, ive got crankshaft out now but how would i know where to put it back?

good about the pressure plate, what about the flywheel, i need to put the 1.3 flywheel on.

there will be markings on the crank pulley and look on the cover there shouid be a pointer /marker.
get some pics up of the pulleys and the casings iwill try my best to guide you on the timing,

its been a while since ive worked on japs and that was Nissan /mazdas there all simialar tho

flywheel just tighten them by hand you will be able to guess on them,

its all the modern stuff that needs to be Torqued up imho

i mind seeing a picture of a focus camshaft pulley (i think it was bailes) a bolt locked it into place i think, my engine doesnt have anything. But its not exactly hi tech, its all nice and simple in there, only negative is these starheads holding down the camshaft really stupid idea.
how are the piston liners put in are they part of the block, or can they be replaced?

good stuff
where did you get that, is it the suzuki one
its a tiny bit small though.

one thing about the head though its not really any good as the 2 rocker bolts are still broke inside it, so for now i suppose the valves can be taken out.
Can oil starvation damage anything up in the head to the same extent as the bottom of the engine.

the mushroom top came:
Image
with a bit of brute force it was put onto a pipe end:
Image
and then it just plonks onto the jeep:
Image
Image
(the roof has that unique shape because i tried using a ratchet strap to pull the bar down but the bar just snapped in the middle giving that v shape)
Image

if its ever going to wade through water that deep ill need a snorkel for my own air intake.
