Re: Laminate flooring
Lozz, if your gas boiler is more than 5 years old, you may want to look at replacing it with a newer condensing type.
Our flat used to have this sh*t old boiler in it that broke down every few months or so. It was so crap it couldn't heat the water fast enough for us to run a bath (I prefer showers, but it's nice to soak once in a while)
We complained to our Housing Association pretty much non-stop about it until they eventually relented. About a year ago, they fitted our flat with a brand new Vaillant ecoTEC Pro 24 condensing combi boiler. Since then, our gas bill has literally halved!
It's more efficient because it reutilizes the hot exhaust gases to heat the water before expelling them. There's also something different about how it burns the gas that makes it burn more effectively, making it cleaner, and less likely to clog up with crap. When they serviced it after its first year, it was spotlessly clean inside. No problems with reliability either.
Sure, the initial costs might be high, but I reckon if it could cut your gas bill down like it did for me, you'll find it pays for itself pretty quickly.

Our boiler is about 3 years old- the older one we had blew up,
we carnt get a Condensor type boiler that will run this place they dont make them powerful enough.
the pipework for the radiators is thicker than scafold poles, same radiators as what was in the old schools,
We got one company that offerd to supply us a boiler and that was £6 k from abroad scandanavia ithink it was that was a Floor standing one. in the end we had to hack out some walls and have the wallmounted one fitted,

Re: Laminate flooring
Might be cheaper/easier to hack the system into two parts then, one combi upstairs, one combi downstairs?

That was my plan but it didnt work out, highlander wrote:Might be cheaper/easier to hack the system into two parts then, one combi upstairs, one combi downstairs?

the only way wouid be to rip out all the victorian pipework and start a fresh but ididnt and couidnt possibly get my hands on 15 grand and the owner of the house wont pay anything towards any upgrades,
He wants the house left to its original standards,
the boiler thats in at the moment does its job but its running more than it shouid be doing it looped up with 3 pumps
iwill be going the Arga route running on homemade Bio once the boiler pops its clogs,
we still have all the pipework in place for a Arga its just capped off so it will be easy enough to put one back into use,
Re: Laminate flooring
Haha- i found a quick way of Lowering the 406,
20 boxes of laminate flooring from B&q.
strangely it just ploded on as normal,
ive just gone through 14 boxes just another 6 boxes left to put down

You should've seen our old D8 XUD with half of Ikea in it (Some rugs and random sh*t such as light bulbs and plants, pair of desks, two tables, 6 chairs, 2 wardrobes, one small and one large bed, three matresses, a bookcase, two chests of drawers and a mah00sive bahtroom cabinet) Funny enough it still fit 3 people comfortably and got us home

Re: Laminate flooring
Funny thing is if you park it next to a new Mondeo, Avensis or any of those swollen shitboxes you actually start to realise how clever everything has been packed inside the 406.lozz wrote:The most ive had in mine was a full car interior,

Re: Laminate flooring
its not wasted in making it look imposing or improve refinment, the 406 does both of them well and still isnt swollen.
But the boot, for things like wooden flooring i suppose its ok, but everytime i end up needing to use the boot i know my clio would have held it, that shelf, the gun cabinet, the strimmer and the lawnmower dont fit into the boot, whereas on a small hatch they do.
