Today saw a 1996 Holden Commodore V6 estate today in white - and oddly enough was righthand drive too.

Also saw a very late BMW 635 CSi highline in royal blue, immaculate car with factory dechrome and BBS rims - awesome

Me too!

Then I took one for a drive, it was a right barge - big, heavy, soggy, a real disappointment.
Looked great, sounded lovely, but it just wasn't dynamic.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I have always had a soft spot for Carlton GSis - there cant be many left now. Havnt seen one on the road for a few years. The Manta was a great looking car, just a shame they were not fitted with anything more beefier than a 2.0. Would have looked cool with a bonnet buldge due to there being a 3liter straight 6 under there!

What is S in the GB system? 1998?

When was the horrible scrappage? 2008?

2008 - 10 years = 1998 :(

Saw an original Nova on the Cregagh Road again today, some old fella driving it.

Had about 25 cars between 0930 and 1000 but thought it was getting silly
Wouldnt think it after other day when only saw 4 or 5
I noticed a 75 estate purely cus it's different
I also saw 3 sierra derivatives : sapphire cosworth; a P100; and, a 4 door on a G plate
Also saw a 64 Oldsmobile
What I did see what I hadn't seen in ages was a Toyota Starlet
1999 D8.5 HDi GLX - Sold :(

I had a white Carlton GSi 24V - amazing how quickly people swerved out of the outside lane when that baby appeared in their mirrors.

Remember seeing a Manta with a 24V straight six at a show at Billing Aquadrome many years ago, but a real Manta 400 was what you really wanted. Nearest I got was a Manta with 2.2 4-cyl Carlton block, stage 3 head, wild cam, twin 45's, 2.5" zorst, and it looked bog-standard too......

One of the guys in work has a Starlet. Good cars but they do seem to be rare (apart from some of the boy racers). The Yaris sold better.

Rover 75s are classy, like a small Jag.

TATA own the name, hopefully they'll bring it back for the sub-jag X-type spiritual replacement.

that was a very messy takeover, tata has the name rover, the chinese has the designs.

The starlet i see some old man drive one with alloy wheels and twin cam advertised hugley on the side, none of these additons help it still goes very slow. They are not a particularly nice looking car.

SAIC bought the ex-Rover designs, NAC bought the name MG. Ford owned the name Rover as it owned Land Rover and could restrict Rover 4x4 vehicles being sold.
SAIC had to use the marketing name "Roewe", with a 75 with mk1 headlights and a squared off boot sold as the 750. They also sell it as a hybrid.

Ford sold Jag and Land Rover to TATA, along with the rights to the name Rover (and Lanchester / Daimler)

Doggy - not a chance

Just i'm stuck at 55mph, and it's more than a tad boring
This kinda gave me something to do..........apart from the obvious of driving

Had the weather been warmer, i'd of stuck with leering into cars to see if there was any tit or leg on show from the female of the species, but as it's getting colder.........
