The 180, as the egr's still in circuit, for now.

My bro needs to arm himself with a 110 turbo/intercooler hose, so while he's at it, I've asked him to look out for a 110 vacuum pump/servo pipe, (which has only two smaller pipes tee'd off at the servo end). I'm thinking this is the prefect solution - 1 pipe to the turbo e/v, t'other to swirl e/v.

I pinched the vac pipe off my 110 breaker for the same reason, not fitted it yet as I haven't gotten round to it. Only small issue I can see is the feed for the swirl EV will have to come from the servo end so you'll possibly need a longer rubber pipe depending on the route you take.
As I say I haven't swapped mine yet so it may or may not reach but a good time to fit a new one anyway as it's cheap enough.

You can use the t-piece from the servo end of the 2.2 layout ( 2 tees ) and put it on the pump end - 1 to swirl, 1 to turbo then the main pipe direct to servo - simples.. :cheesy:

Fair point, but if you fit the 110 pipe at the same time as losing all the egr faff, you'll have loads of spare pipe......

Seems like you're progressing well so far, funny that there's no FAP/CAT now I'm wondering if the previous owner was 'in the know' or a Garage has ripped him off horribly to 'fix' the Aunty Polly faults or what......

This almost seems like a little business hopper tunity to me? pick up desperate old 2.2's with 'issues' and turn them into little demons for next to nothing.....shift 'em on for max dollars.

Latest news: Bargain basement egr delete completed. :supafrisk:

Including the usual blanking plate fitting / solenoid valve vacuum pipe plugging, but with a twist.....
When I did my car, I fitted the necessary pipework to remove the bypass heat exchanger and lose the air dosers, (which is the best approach, but requires a 110 turbo/intercooler hose and the 'Nico pipe', neither of which we had to hand).
So, we removed the intercooler / air doser hose and checked the top throttle body - it's quite firmly sprung loaded to the open position, so we disconnected and plugged the vacuum pipe, to prevent the ecu closing this throttle, (to ensure it chokes on its own exhaust).

It seems to work just the same as mine - eliminates the infuriating lack of response at low engine speeds and the sudden acceleration when it finally gets some oxygen.

Thought I'd share this idea for the benefit of anyone wanting to de-egr and find a simple low-cost method to stop the air doser closing to promote exhaust inhalation, as these things are want to do.

No, that's the point. This method let's you convert a car that has an air doser used in the egr strategy, without changing the map.

My bro's car developed the mother of all flat spots last week - more or less completely dead below 2000 RPM, then blast off.

After a bit of faffing about, I swapped the MAF for mine to prove a point and it was back to normal, (and mine was definitely not happy).

Any suggestions for getting a good replacement for sensible money?
