ive bought a few cars blind off ebay in the past and did ok,
My first Ever car ibought off ebay was £66 it was a Gold puggy 405 ithink it was a k plate,
it was a bargain /plenty of tax and test was on it and iwas a 1 owner from new, only problem was with it was the Heater matrix had burst, i by passed it with a peice of metal handle i cut off the sellers next door neighbours sweeping brush They didnt see me liberate it :) drove it 70miles home it ran like a dream agood bargain,

Then this:
Ibought a Mondeo estate of ebay £650 on a buy it now,
on the Add it said Ghia x alloys cd player etc Mint condition,

the car was totaly Diferent than what was on the pictures and as described when igot there, :(
No cd player
No Alloys,
and 2 broken front springs,
And the Seller must of binned the log book because he never sent it to Dvla after the sale,

My mistake was ipaid for the car up front via pay/pal as the Auction add stated payment via paypal not cash on collection,
the police was called as i was Going too kill the dude they said take the car and go,
pay/pal wouidnt do out or Ebay -Because the seller closed all his Accounts and Moved house, :(

Iwill never buy another car off ebay Your best to buy a car "private" that way you can test drive the car and check it over properly , Ebay is as good as a car Auction you never know if your going to End up with a Lemon or not ,

I've had some good, some bad off there. My 325tds was a bargain at the time - only paid £2500 for it & when I sold it 6 months later I got the equivalent of £3500 (swapped for a little diesel Polo which got sold on a local forecourt SOR).

My general rule is to avoid the ones that insist on a deposit - it usually means that they know they've misdescribed the car & want to make sure they pocket at least £50-£100 from each failed sale. If they're only asking £20, then I'd say it was fair enough as that does cover the relisting, but when they look for £100 or even £250 in some cases, that is pulling the p*ss.

Then you take pictures, walk away and tell ebay the item was significantly not as described, and with the broken springs also not fit for purpose.

Very very bad move.

I test drive all my ebay cars (of which I've had quite a few!) before parting with cash, and I'm fully prepared to walk (well, get on a train) away if I think it's significantly not as described or not fit for purpose. Flash the cash, show your insurance, and explain nicely why you want a test drive, and sellers tend to be fine with it
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

the best place to buy a car from is a forecourt
a well known trader,
any problems then you can take it back ,
you pay more from a forecourt but the peice of mind is there

The colour is OK, but the cream leather makes me go weak at the knees :supafrisk:

this is my favourite colour.

Following my somewhat unfathomable veg oil calculations I might seriously have to consider it. (Maybe its just the cream leather...)

I thought the airbag light was always on -- mine is. It goes off for a while if you poke the electrical connections under the passenger seat.

i like my cream leather interior, but the d8s got cream door handles, and the d9s got black ones, id prefer cream handles to match the interior, or more like crome handles with the cream surrounds.

Is it on or flashing? It should stay on if you have the passenger airbag turned off, but flash if you have a fault.
