Re: carburettor help
banjacksed, it just doesnt sound good.
anyhow as promised the video, this was the first start, technically the second attempt as i had to change the starter but after the starter was swapped this was the attempt that got the engine going:
mTcf_od6sOs
the hissing noise is just induction roar through the carburettor with no filter on
here is another one, just to show it can rev ok:
adKj3ix1Cf8
starts no problem and there is a nice roar off it.

Re: carburettor help
I put 2 litres of oil in the gearbox, put on the flywheel sh*t guard, and connected up the clutch cable right, plonked the 406 seat in (with the armrest) and went for a short spin, no more than 10mph, the jeeps running quite smooth, the coolant must have an airlock the temperature rose quick (but didnt boil) and there is a leak of oil coming from the top, it hasnt starved the engine but just some oils coming out so ive got a new sump and rocker cover gasket, and the jeeps booked in with stanley on wedensday for a checkup. Ill get it looked over by a proper mechanic before i start to drive the shite out of it.
Also its very windy today, the bonnet flew up and hit the snorkel, the snorkel survived but left a dent in the bonnet.

Re: carburettor help
ive still got a small oil leak, the coolant is leaving from somewhere, and the brake fluid is non existant. But heck i took the jeep out round the fields today and there power is fantastic, after them 2 understeerey vitaras i was worried the heavy engine would make my jeep understeer but even in 4wd it still oversteers ive had it in 2wd and it spins round really easy if you put too much power down.
Rear wheel drive is fantastic.

Re: carburettor help
i just pulled the wire going to the handbrake and pulled it out but ive still got a light.
The weep of oil im thinking could be the fuel pump.
ive put on the lights agian, tried making a thing to hold the extra gagues that will come but broke it.
Heres the lights:

out there tonight the rabbits are just everywhere hundreds of the things.

Re: carburettor help
thems bright
are you having a bash at lampin the rabbits
iused to do that but it got boring after awhile,
id sooner let me dogs chase them now, it keeps the dogs keen and the rabbits get there fair chance,
not many left for em to chase tho.

hes only slowing down a bit, he still catches a few.lozz wrote:Have you not thought about taking on a greyhound Ex racer, or pup,FarmerPug wrote:at the moment with the apple trees my uncle needs rid of the rabbits because they are eating them. and the dog although he is keen to get one is getting a bit older and slower just cant catch them as well.

The jeep might be inactive for a while longer, a blade on the fan broke off and took a chunk out of the radiator cut the shite out of it right and good, coolant everywhere f*ck f*ck f*ck

So the good things instead.
I wired up this very bright light to where the courtesy light is, which is wired up to give out 12v constantly, theres a push to make momentary switch at the back to turn the light on for quick flashes:

the front lights and the horn now have switches in a special panel i made where the heater controls once were:

and the lights:

and the extra gagues will sit in this:

so the radiator needs replaced although any old thing with 2 pipes and small enough to fit will do, then i need to take the fuel pump out to sort out the oil leak coming from it and thats just to get it to go.
I think id prefer to fix an electrical problem in the peugeot than to try and make a nissan micra radiator fit into a suzuki.

Re: carburettor help
These suzukis really are very easy to work on, but getting parts for its starting to get a bit tedious, a new radiator is £90
but a nissan micra one will fit with some fettling and if i take off the engine driven fan and replace it with a more compact electric all should aparently be ok.
in an unrelated question have you still got the micra?

Re: carburettor help
Iscrapped my micra a few weeks back,
You couid use any rad aslong as the pipe diamters are simialar,
Old festa rad wouid do, just a case of making up some brackets, the (SHelf)Racking type Mechano style stuff is good for that,

Re: carburettor help
no worries my local scrappy has a micra, with the electric fan. I need a bar to go across between the 2 chasis rails to hold the bottom then the top is held in place by cable ties.
Out will come the belt driven fan and i should have more room. Stupid fecking thing breaking, ive never seen or heard of this before.
then the attention can go back to the oil leak from the fuel pump, then the rattly flywheel guard, then the air filter, then the handbrake, then ...........................
old cars just take quite a bit to keep them going.
