well the tester did a test for me and didnt log it in ,

the drivers side is fine but passangers side still not good enough he said.

he said the shoes will need replacing cos the brake fluid soaks into the shoes and never work again.

on the handbrake test the passanger side will not lock at all due to the brake fluid in the shoes :?

just got some shoes now , they only cost £20 so gonna do them this week sometime and get this MOT

thanks to lozz for helping me out i now know how to do it.

sorry to hear that mate,
yup the brake fluid may of fubard up the shoes on that side a spose,
they seemed to hold well tho,

you couid always try taking the hub off again and sanding the shoes a little with abit of sand paper,
shoes will be easy enough to change but that wouid mean crawling under the car and taking the heat sheild off again loosen off adjuster on cable,

I thought an MOT wasn't allowed to dismantle your car, just check what they can from the outside?

If he can do it & they only cost £20, new shoes would be a good selling point, especially bearing in mind the type of people who would be using this type of car (first time drivers).

I Agree Waue, New shoes wouid be a goodthing,

in all fairness its a tidy little motor someones kept on top of the Maintence on it,
itook the Heatsheald off to adjust the Handbrake- they where new cables recently put on, the Exhaust isnt much older than 6 mth old either,

There were no adjusters in the Hubs ,

SirWiggums guide to tarting up an old motor:
- Polish
- Back to black
- Hoover and interior wipes
- New wheeltrims
- New numberplates
- Mudflaps (makes it look lower from the rear, especially a wee motor like that 106)
- New plain mats
3. Profit £££ :cheesy:

can i ask for every1s opinion. (be honest please) i wont take offence .

still not had 1 phone call for the 106 yet ? is it me just being impatient or is the price to high.
it now has 12 months MOT, 1 months tax .

so is the asking price to high ?

its on ebay, gumtree, preloved,

so ive just put it in the autotrader online.

If I were in the market for a small car for a new driver, then I'd be looking at a mechanically sound 106 with a full year's MOT and a bit of tax on it, and the £350 - £500 bracket would be where I'd be aiming to find one.

My stepson turned 17 in February; once he's got through his exams we'll be getting him driving lessons. If this car were for sale in February next year, I might have been sending you a PM myself!

I don't think its an unrealistic price.

Stick it in the classified ads in the supermarkets and in the local papers, too. Make sure it's parked by the roadside outside your house and ensure it has a well-written "For Sale" sign in both of the rear windows (so people can see it when on either side of the road whilst walking past). If a bird shits on it, clean it off ASAP as even that can put an "unloved" blackspot on the car in people's minds. Take it to the supermarket when you go shopping and park it as near to the front entrance as possible, so it (and its "For Sale" signs) can be easily spotted by potential punters.

Hope it goes soon - it does look like a little cracker.

For reference, I spent £650 on a mk. 1 Renault Clio Panache 5-door 1149cc back in November 2007, and I still consider that to be a good value car.
