This is all very well, but are we not legitimising fog light abuse :?:

We need an effective strategy to combat this menace.

Maybe if we let it be known that using foglights and headlights together is a secret sign, used by

I'm sure I read somewhere that driving with your front fogs on when its not foggy is a way of covertly saying "I'm not getting any" or "I'm getting plenty from my friend Bubba - please help!"

Under the present circumstances, I feel it is highly insensitive to mention vehicles with features Puggy may not have.

Have to say I use my fog lights    runs and takes cover. But I would say in the right context foggy

Also I will use them down dark country lanes and when visability is poor. But I treat them like main beam turn them off when a car is coming towards you. I feel they do give you a better view of the road when driving conditions are crap.

I think I will need a new stalk soon

If I cant see any further than around a metre or the car in front i use them. Thats why I class as foggy :P

As for poor conditons I only use them when im on full beam. So I would class them as driving lights like the 205 gti's had.

I agree about some people drive in daylight with them on   they get the full beam treatment and fogs flashing like a stripper in a club.

As for tailgaters I use to do the usual hard on the brakes watch them sh*t there selfs but not anymore. Older and wiser I guess   I simply slow right down and not making it obvious and pull in where safe. Let the arsehole pass you and tailgate someone else. Back to stress free driving. Sometimes I wish my pug had few of bonds gadgets bye bye fog light ussers when its not foggy and tailgaters :P :P

Fronts are designed to illuminate the surface of the road at night 15 or 20 feet ahead of the car so you don't drive off into a ditch - they are of zero value during the day when ambient light levels are high (even if visibility itself is low), except as an annoyance.

Just thought of (and had) another one this morning........

People who *flash* you to say thanks, but in the dark

You sit there patiently letting them through only to be 'thanked' with a bloody great flash in the face at point blank range

Yes, bluddy annoying, it would be better if they didn't bother. Not that they do here much, more kind of stare at you like you've gone nuts. At night I flick my lights down to just side lights (although I can't afford to wait for the BSI on my D9 to "think" about it for 10 minutes  )

i dunno, there's nothing wrong with a brief flash (as opposed to a 5-second blinding...)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

I agree, it's just a case of synchronising your flash to the BSI scan cycle to get the desired result
