Right lights on a police car?

Post by gRoberts »

Hey everyone.

Just curiarse, I was driving to work this morning and noticed the local plod in a `I don't have indicators` driving along with only the red lights flashing (light bar and all break lights)?

What was strange was that he/she was sticking to the flow of the traffic and no one was moving out of the way for him/her.

I could see the lights from almost half a mile away (stuck in shite traffic), so surely they would have noticed them still on?

Anyone seen this before?

Pretty sure they can adjust them so that just the rear lights are on, and they have spot lights on the ends of the bars too for lighting up stuff down the sides of the car. Looks like they just forgot they had put them on.

Pretty careless? That said, how people can drive for miles without realising their indicators are still on, I don't know.

The lights on the car were very bright and were reflecting off of other vehicles that were even side by side, I'm sure I would have noticed the side of the vehicle flashing lol

Meh, curiousity got the better of me and thought I'd ask.

Cheers ;)

They can put them on independently, check it out next time someone has been stopped on the motorway, you won't see any blue flashes from the front generally. Not sure why a copper would leave his rear ones on whilst driving unless they were on an escort mission of some form

Aye, you can have rear reds, or rear reds on the bar.

The control panel makes an almightly beep every 3 or 4 seconds, so you'd need to be deaf to leave them on and not know it.

The spots on the end of the light bars are called 'alleys' or 'alley lights', which is fairly obvious I guess.

Doubtless on for some reason, but why...who knows?

And as for indicators, when you become an advanced driver you'll know that slapping them on indiscriminately every time you manoever will earn you a punch in the kidneys from the trainer.
