air con questions... kwikfit robbing gits

Post by no2lurch »

went to kwickfit to get my estate regassed - after 2 hours they said it was fine, passed the vac test and filled it up as needed. as i was paying the 49 quid, he said it passed the vac test fine but there still might be a leak. he said he had the car running for 20 mins and i was fine though.

got in the car, cold air! great i thought. drove about 4 mile at lunch and popped the bonnet, i could hear hissing. great i thought. went in the shop and came back to car to drive to work, now the compressor wont kick in.

took it to kwikfit to complain and they hooked it back to the vac test and i stood there while he retested it. he said its holding the vacuum fine, except he forgot i could read - the machine said leak detected!

i had to argue for a refund! robbing twats. they just fille the gas up and sent me on my way the first time!

now then (rant over), i know the compressor is working fine as it was kicking in and out fine. how easy will it be to find a leak?

That's crazy. If the leak was big enough for you to HEAR it then how did they think it was fine to dose it up with refrigerant........oh, hang on, the 'machine' said so
