Fitting universal mud flaps

I seen a 406 one day while driving behind it with mudflaps on it, so i decided there to get mine a set while buying the new exhaust, these mud flaps are universal fitting ones with peugeot logos printed onto them, but the problem is i am absolutley useless at getting the things on right, its not the screwing the things in but measuring them right to put them on correctly so they look normal, does anyone know the best way to put them on, they say easy fitting on the packaging but thats all the help that comes with them

My trick was to park the car on level ground and put a couple of wooden blocks beneath the mud flaps. Build these blocks to the desired height you want the mud flaps to hang and go around each corner. obviously as the fronts lower you'll require less height. Means that you are level height wise all round

ok ill give that a go, so the fronts a bit lower then, do i have to bolt or rivet along the top of the mud flap where there is the pointy sort of tip thing, and how much is it supposed to sit out by. Is there anyone with pictures of universal mudflaps on their 406, or just any car just so i can get a better idea of how its done

surely the outside edge of mud flap should be in line with the outside egde of the wheels? no point in have the flap to far into the car so the water is still splashed up past it?

Not sure if I expalined that well. As the front of the car is closer to the ground then the mudflap should be screwed higher into the arch than at the back. Means that your not going to scrape them everytime you come across a speed bump and therefore they will stay on a heck of a lot longer. Took a few quick snaps just to show you what height and alignment mine have:

How its screwed on, think each mudflap has 4/5 screws holding it on

Not being funny here but I've never witnessed ANY mudflaps actually doing anything useful other than to create drag in the airflow. They don't seem to keep the bodywork clean at all

They usually come with those useless big clamps. Theyre handy for roughly positioning it on, get a sharp punch and put a hole in the flap where you want the screws, screw in and unclamp.

Once saw a car with mudflaps held on by binder clips!

Must say that the lower the better for mudflaps in my opinion

i know mudflaps are quite effective, i had them fitted on my old panda and the muck was always kept away from the front windows and doors

They were handy visually on skinny tired cars like the Clio and the ZX.

Good low flaps made the rear look a lot better.

my car spends all its time in the country and needs them despiratley at the moment because as soon as the car is washed it gets filthy again, but its not as bad as the suzuki gets
