Flywheel

Post by FarmerPug »

I seen on gumtree belfast a blue 407 with 88k meals on the clock, at cheap money, how much does it cost to put a flywheel right

also i seen this on gumtree:
http://www.gumtree.com/london/04/68011104.html
the seller has an obvious attraction to amps, just one minor issue he or she has referred to the glx as the top of the range, they are wrong

What's wrong with the flywheel? Is it an HDi?

I think the amp is ampersand (&), something to do with converting from one format to another. Top of the range huh? WHat does that make your exec??

I found it, ad 67709782 2.0 HDi, 2007  "Car Needs Fly Wheel Still Drives Prefectly" it'll be a dual-mass flywheel, which you're meant to change with the clutch. I think they're a couple of hundred quid, plus it'd be rude not to change the clutch while the gearbox is off. I guess you can price this up for yourself but I'd suspect that's not the total of it's problems at that price. Why not go waste their time and look at it?

If that car is top of the range, by which this seller obviously means mountain ranges and their car is the peak district, then my car must be top of mount everest obvious this trim level stuff. VW sellers are worse at this when selling mainly because vw has one of the worst trim level ranges i have ever come across so that means that a 2004 special edition model with no electric features or comforts at all is top of the range, if you want to buy a fully loaded vw or audi its not easy sure you will get well equipped models but its more satisfying having an exec and knowing all the available toys are in here.

I dont really want that 407 it looks accident damaged, and its not a high enough trim level, i see gt and exec 407s go for the same money.

Ok, it's a bit scuffed but it seems cheap even for that part of the world (it'd be over 10 grand here :( ). I didn't realise SE was poverty spec for a 407, I thought it was like the coupe SE

I dont think its poverty spec there is a proper povery spec with single zone climate control how could anyone live with such a compromise hey wait this one in my car is single zone but i dont see the point in buying a poverty spec used car when a exec version is roughly the same price since spec doesnt seem to change used values eg this car:
http://guildford.gumtree.com/guildford/37/67359837.html
i think its worth the extra for a working clutch, leather seats, a big engine, and less miles, and that was just the first exec if i spent long enough i could get a younger car perhaps with a manual.

well now lets not hold that against it, thats to be blamed upon the person who ordered the car. One thing though for a fully loaded top of the range executive its missing one important thing the sat nav

I thought standard sat navs went out of date and needed expensive updates?

even so you get a big colour screen which could allow for a reversing camera, all sat navs need expensive updates my garmins £80 a pop so i dont think it would be too bad for a 407 especially since the sat navs buit in so its not as vunerable to thieves as the portable option

That's fair enough, I've got no interest in one (here? Hahaha!) so I don't know much about them.

HOLY CRAP how cheap have 407s become?

OK I guess I'll be selling my TDI before mid January (insurance renewal time) if anyone's interested? Time to keep my eyes open for a cheap 407 HDi SW in top trim  Even better if I can find a knackered one with time to fix it up and de-fap it
