Hooning about in a 406...in the snow

Post by CountryPug »

Thought I'd post this up for a few giggles. Myself and a few mates decided to take advantage of the snow tonight and do a few handbrake turns. I'll be the first to admit that this is done at a snails pace but the 215's couldn't find any grip and its better doing it slowly rather than sending it into a wall. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy :)

good stuff, hope you enjoyed them,
the 406 is quite good at the handbrake turns in the snow i just put mine into 1st kept my foot on the throttle and pulled the handbrake when i felt like it great fun even though its slow and i know opposite lock prevents a full slide but a full slide is good as well, next on the agenda is to get my uncles hilux and do some powerslides in 2wd mode. And perhaps get it recorded on a good camera, no good just saying i did it.
By the way is that another Pug the recordist is beside.

I was looking for other vids of 406 owners being childish in the snow. Found this on youtube, well shot and quite entertaining. As we say 'a bit more like the thing'

Looks fun :)

Your alloys really look well too!

Had a bit of fun on the ice in Dunnes car park, but the other half wan't impressed :D

Saw a few up Nutts Corner car park at the market having fun on the ice, including an Omega (RWD).

Remember trying a handbrake turn in the Xantia and failing - the handbrake pulled the front brakes and it just slid to a stop.

Thanks, well pleased with them. Actually saw a red D8 with the same rims in m'felt last week, must have started a trend

Didn't know the Xantia's had the handbrake on the front wheels, aren't the Megane's like that too?

There was a guy out in a 4motion Golf lastnight, he had A LOT of fun in the snow

That white 406 looks like its been filimed in russia beside all them crappy ladas it looks ultra modern, i need to get someone to hold the cameracorder while i do some handbrake turns and i wont put some SHITE music over the sound of a revving diesel. I had a go today in the hilux, 2wd mode, full power dumped the clutch and nothing but a blinking light on the dash, turned the traction control off and plenty of oversteer, it also fishtaled like crazy on the road with the tc off.

I could never do any decent handbrake turns on either of my 406's because neither had a decent handbrake.

I've got a courtesy car Fiesta at the moment, brilliant fun, in the snow and just generally.

Had a right blast in the Golf on the way to work this morning. Avoided all the gritted main roads and turned a 10 minute drive into an hour of pure fun, with some dicking about in the carpark after :ninja:

Prefer the 406 for control in a drift as well as its normally aspirated V6 goodness, but I found as long as I kept the revs over 1000 the little TDI lump did the goods with the T/C off... Very twitchy little thing though, couple of times I found myself struggling to catch spins in the opposite direction after the oversteer wore off. Still fun though :cheesy:

Only the heated seats not working. It was like it when i test drove it. They seem to be having a bit of difficulty diagnosing the problem (at this stage, they're making Peugeot dealers look efficient!).

But it's been in the garage for the whole of this cold snap we're having, which isn't such a bad thing. If someone's going to slide into me, let it be in a car that's not mine!
