Off the top of my head, the saloon and estate have:

L
LX
GLX
GTX
Rapier
SRi
S
SE
Exec

The coupe has a different set:

S (cloth seats)
SE (leather seats & JBL speaker system)
Ultima Edizione (not sure, never seen one)

and then it also has some special limited editions:

Silver & Black
Settant'anni (in English, this means "70th Anniversary" and the trim celebrates Pininfarina's 70th birthday)
Sport
Griffe
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

Not sure if it was available in any colour other than the tan leather (I'm not a fan of tan leather, sorry folks; it's just not my cup of tea).

Hmm, according to this photo, it looks like the Ultima Edizione was also a limited edition trim (they were numbered):

It's weird then, because when I go into ServiceBox and look up my car, it says "TRIM LEVEL: NON STANDARD MEDIUM". What the hell does that mean? I thought SE was the high trim level - and what's non-standard about mine anyway? :?

Other things about my car's listing in ServiceBox which confuse me:

OTHER BADGE: WITHOUT FULLER BADGE
BADGE: WITHOUT BADGE
SPECIAL LIGHTING: WITHOUT PARTICULAR LIGHT

My car has Peugeot and Pininfarina badges. Maybe they mean Special Edition badges like the Settant'anni or Ultima Edizione badges for the dash trim... But I have no idea what they mean by "Particular Light"...

What what? :?
highlander wrote:"TRIM LEVEL: NON STANDARD MEDIUM".
As opposed to a medium trim straight out of the box "yes, I think I'll have the ashtray full warning light."

OTHER BADGE: WITHOUT FULLER BADGE - I think they all say that.
BADGE: WITHOUT BADGE - no HDi/V6/Exectutive etc. badge. I guess.
SPECIAL LIGHTING: WITHOUT PARTICULAR LIGHT - Now I know none of them have this :frown: Incidentally, I stuffed particulier (French for particular) into Babelfish and got out "private individual" - lost in translation? The Croat says "BEZ POJEDINAČNOG SVJETLA " - without individual lights :?

It's just trim levels, and I'm sure you can get a lower trim level and add stuff when you order your new car. They used to have some vague meaning way back in time - e.g. GL - "Grand Lux" (rubber mats and a heater!)

I think last time we discussed this all we concluded was that the logic is a bit, well, French.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Executive is the top spec yes, a few comsmetic things are in the SE which i took and put on mine but the exec is the one with the full leather.
Still though i like peugeots idea of trim levels, the prize goes to toyota for the most organized system of trim levels from the T2 models which are sh*t to the T spirit models which are good.
VW, and i think ford, dont seem to be as easy to work with in terms of trim levels, theres no executive passat and if there was everything was probably an option.
And if your looking for trim levels on a merc or bmw forget it.

Mercedes salesman: "Do you want seats in that? It'll be extra."

My dad's old Merc. had all the extras possible in it, even the fire extinguisher. We had the original paperwork with the car and the extras more than DOUBLED the list price

have you ever been in dreamland enough to go onto mercs site and build your car, i managed to add £50ks worth of extras to an S class.
But heck if i won the lottery id tick every option box when buying an s class, well not actually id buy an e class estate.
Bmw has an interesting option called the debadging option which is used mainly by the buyers of the 318 to hide the fact when parked beside the 328 and the M3

Ever been into a super shiny glass walled Merc showroom and talked to the staff? Don't bother they are idiots and up there own arse's. I would go as far and say it's unorganized caos dealing with the service dept and for that reason i would never buy a Mercedes.
