205gti

Post by FarmerPug »

I had a look on ebay, for a 205gti, have no intention of buying one right now but would never say no to one either. But it seems to be that like the 306dturbo, genuine unmolested 205gtis are very hard to come by. Is this really the case, has too many clueless modifiers mucked about with the gti's why would someone lower a 205 gti when there was never any need to?
Heres some bad ones i seen:
stupid grille
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/205-GTI-1-6-spare ... 542wt_1141
part of the appeal was its good looks which someone has wiped away:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1988-PEUGEOT-205- ... 500wt_1156
looks like a fiat uno:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peugeot-205-Mi16- ... 633wt_1141

and then 2 i would define as being good:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1992-PEUGEOT-205- ... 500wt_1156
mint:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1990-PEUGEOT-205- ... 500wt_1156
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1990-G-Peugeot-20 ... 361wt_1141
Red is the best colour i think.

what do you look out for when buying one of these, i would actually consider buying one and converting it to lpg, for the sunday drive.

Which one is quickest, and which one handles best? The 205 was one of the best handling hot hatches around.
Anyhow, the 205 or MK1 golf, id pick the 205 any day, but ill end this post with my favourite word:

the escort isnt that quick for a turbo since it only has a 1.6 engine,,

but for looks the RS has to win hands down just look at it lol

i prefer the look of the 205 (which has some connection with pininfarina), and its more shiny red paint, old pugs looked good.
Then there was the t16.

I always liked the Astra GTE - especially the 16v! Turns out it wasn't as fast as the RS Turbo though:

I had one of those GTE things, the one with the electronic dash....I was an expert at fixing those dash when they went wrong :cheesy:

Very quick car, but Torque Steer was awful on it, the steering wheel could get pulled out your hand if you weren't careful.

These cars were my 'most wanted' as I was about 18 to 21 when they were new.....couldn't afford any of them

The RS turbo was a personal favourite, I just like the looks, the interior and the eggsauce note.

The 205 was a hoot but very tinny.

The Asretray was fast but didn't handle too well.

Most of these cars made around 130 - 160 bhp which seems low today but you have to remember they mostly weighed sub-1000kg.......something you'd be reminded of in a crash when the whole thing folded up like a paper bag
Cars in my care:
2021 Kia Spottage 1.6 Pez Turbo Dual Clutch Gearbox Trickery
2013 Renner Twingo - donkey work
