ah them i had one in my old 309:

Mine come from lidl, and were useless, said 20 centigrade in the middle of the december snow, the second one i used worked better, i placed it on the water cap to monitor the engine temperature, as the old pugs i used to have for rallying round the fields had a habbit of blowing the head gaskets, the only ones that didnt were N/A 205s and 309s.

The thermometer is a sensor, probably a thermistor, basically a LDR for temperature, ie when its cold its resistance is high, when its warm the resistance is low, and the digital bit is calibrated to know when theres a specific resistance that means a specific temperature. The thermistor is quite small about the same size as an ldr but in products like that its built into a bit of plastic to look more like a sensor, its about the size of a 2p piece (triangle on yours) so theres not much chance of getting it through the grommet, so the wire may need snipped and reconnected, just make sure the connection is a good soldered one, and well wrapped up. Of course this was the experience of my thermometer device, yours may have a different sensor, but im assuming they are all built around the same system.

I used to work for Asda many moons ago, and we had amongst the forklift drivers, a woman

One christmas, when space was a premium, and we had pallets of beer here there and everywhere
One set of racking, some of the pallets, you could access from both sides.
Only
there was a beam making any pallet over 3 feet ONLY accessible from one side
SHE
tried to get this 5 foot high pallet of beer out of the wrong side

Well, as you can imagine there was cans of beer crashing to the floor galore from around 20 foot high

SHE got away with it as she was shagging the grocery manager at the time

Still waiting for one of my xmas presents
Ordered from america on the 4th
shipping info recieved on 6th
took another 6 days to get to leave LA airport
another 4 days to arrive in U.K.
been sat in customs since 16th ...GGggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My lexia arrived today but its hidden from me.
On the subject of forklifts, ive never crashed one, or had a humouros accident like these. The most notable thing that has occured was that the dog always hops up onto the forklift while i use it, then theres no worries of running him down, but on the old caterpillar he had his tail on the exhaust, and i smelt a horrible smell for a while, then i seen some smoke behind me and there was the dog still asleep with the tail on fire.
