Drab Cars
Heres a good time to detail cars so drab and boring that you just wouldnt consider buying one, then a bit of discussion on why not, yes to discuss how drab these cars are. I shall begin with 2 examples:
The Kia Rio
The Mazda 626, or in fact any mazda.

Re: Drab Cars
I quite like the 626, especially the hot version (MPS?).FarmerPug wrote: The Mazda 626, or in fact any mazda.
The RX8 is stunning too!
I will concede the 323 / '3'. After the late 90s stunning coupe-like fastback it just looked like a Focus, and the new one was pretty bland but now has a grille that looks like this -

The '2' too and all the people carriers.
Bland cars:
The entire Audi range
BMW 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, X1, X3, X5, MINI
Chrysler Avenger
The entire Hyundai range
The entire Kia range
Lexus jeep thing
The entire Nissan range except the GTR
The entire Proton range
The entire Seat range
New Skoda Fabia
Vauxhall Corsa / Astra
The entire VW range

Re: Drab Cars
Im going to have to agree with you on them various ranges perhaps not audi though, just the 626 i was in was exceptionally bland, as well as a 6 i was in which was like sitting in a poundstretcher designed interior. The MX5 and RX8 arent really drab at all, but theres better elsewhere than mazda in most cases.
I need to add the toyota carina, the MK1 avensis, the corolla, the yaris mk1, the mk1 rav 4 and honda crv mk1, as you have said the hyundai/kia range yes all are drab, the old skoda favorit, the A class mercedes, and back to the japs who had a habbit of drabness the subaru justy, honda people carriers, the mk1 suzuki swift, all japanese imports used in dublin as taxis, and the early 90s escort.
The basic ingredient for a drab car is a single colour interior, with greasy looking plastics with no texture, and a lack of climate control or general interesting features.

Re: Drab Cars
I had a Mazda MX6

I can concur to its general boringness
Look at its eat-your-dinner-off engine, it was a 2.5V6 and only made 165bhp
and it rewarded you with a wallet-shattering 17mpg and no EML so you'd never know if it was poorly
I found this one in Birmingham, it had a gen-you-whine 45,000 from new, one owner, blah-de-blah but it was pants really. Shifted it on after 6 months and only lost £300.00
Back to the point:
Vauxhall Astra range between 1996 and 2009

Re: Drab Cars
Why pick on a car that's been out of production for almost 30 years? Longer if you actually mean Chrysler because the last ones were badged "Talbot". Ok, nothing to talk about by today's standards (which you are, judging by the rest of the cars you mention) but styled along the lines of a very not dull car - the Dodge Charger.sirwiggum wrote:Chrysler Avenger

Re: Drab Cars
no vauxhall astra range from beginning to end, and all corsas, and all vectras. The omega was good, the carlton was good, some cavileers were acceptable at best but still no match for fords.
Ah a few more crap jap stuff, this time mitsubishi, the charisma, the lancer (non evo), the colt, and their attempt at an executive car the gallant, i was in a gallant with a v6 the autobox made the whole v6 sound dead and unlikeable.

Re: Drab Cars
Yes they were very reliable but I thought that chassis let it down badly (I was warned about it but still bought one) I used to run it about locally hence the low MPG.r1150gsclark wrote:Hey Welly, I had an MX-6 auto, I got on average about 25 mpg and it was extremely reliable over the 5 years I had it, it now is putting up with the abuse the present muppet of an owner is dishing to it!! Sold it to a real enthusiast, which was nice, then he stuffed it into a wall

Re: Drab Cars
ive googled the mx6, its a bit so so with the looks i think, it just doesnt seem to be as jaw droppingly good looking as our very own 406 coupe, which is available in a diesel for the economists.

I liked the original.
Googling the new one, I like the new one.
The one I meant was the newish Focus-sized car - The Sebring. Particularly bland in amongst the Dodge Charger, Avenger and 300C.

Re: Drab Cars
oh yes, now youve opened the tin of beans that is american cars, they can do drab in bucketfulls. That chryslers a good example, and so its its predecessor the neon, and the ford tauris, and generally most new american cars i find drab. But i like the old big barges they used to make, like the caddilac james may had.
