We have a basin in our bathroom which has a typical English "twin tap" type arrangement where you get scalding hot water from one tap and a freezing cold water from the other. We would like to replace this with a normal mixer tap. However, I cannot seem to find any two hole ones which will fit our particular sink.
All the two hole mixers I've seen have an 18cm distance between the hole - ours seems to have around 20-21cm Are there any 20-21cm ones or is 18 the standard? I guess this is more for baths than sinks..... Alternatively, I could fit a single hole mixer but I would need some sort of a blanking plate for the other hole and I can't find one
I reckon I could find a blanking plate, there's one on a sink here... Go for the single hole mixer and either leave the existing tap there (pretty ) or put up with the hole. Or measure it and I'll send you one in the post
Monobloc basin taps are usually only one hole; as Steve says you can get chrome effect blanking caps to fill the hole; is it a basin on a pedestal or vanity unit?
If it's free standing you can get a new basin & pedestal for reasonable money from wickes or B&Q, especially in the sales.

2 hoses from each tap into a y shaped connection, with a hose coming from it there you go. but aestetically a single hole tap is a better idea with some form of blanking plate on the hole, you could be inventive and put in some soap, or toothbrush holder into it.
When we was on holiday, the place we stayed had mixer taps, where the water ran down an open topped channel
We are buying a new bathroom suite, and want to see if we can pick some of these taps
So if anyone spots any, can you let me know please guys

i think i can describe these, they are a tap but the water comes out of a hole into a track which directs the water to the sink, it lets you see a bit of flow to the water.
here they are, a nice looking sort of tap:
though i wonder how nice they look with all the limescale, luckily theres some quiet man who sells a product called cillit bang he always introduces himself as BARRY SCOT
I dont even have cillit bang but in the advertisments do we really need an introduction, do you really care if the man is called BARRY SCOT and shouting at the top of your voice doesnt sell stuff here.
but what are we going to do with this name what more can i possibly determine from this man, or the product he is selling now that hes give out his name. You didnt have jeremy clarkson shouting out HEY IM JEREMY AND IM SELLING YOU BT INTERNET.
