Peugeots number scheme

Post by FarmerPug »

Since peugeot is running out of numbers do you think the 00 is allright, or should they start over, and should the 309 number be used again for the sucessor of the 308 which in order to earn the name 309 needs to not be hideous and be good to drive.

I'm not on for Pug re-using numbers, there should never be another 106, 205, 306, 309, 405 etc. Great cars and destinct numbers among enthusiasts. Equally, I'm not on for the double 0's in the middle, just sounds stupid. I reckon letters might be the way to go in the future, like they've done with the RCZ. Instead of the new 508, how about GTS or something? Only problem would be the different spec's e.g. 'My dear fello, today I have just purchased a Peugeot GTS GLX HDI D9.... Getting into Mitsubishi Evo territory then 8)

And the evo naming scheme is a tad mad and confusing, but the japs like that sort of thing. But what about the 309, it slightly messed up the numbering scheme i know all about it it was supposed to be a talbot, but what happens after the 308, i suppose nothings ever going to be as good as the 309 and it would just be disrespectful. It is quite an issue, because they are running out of numbers at the moment and up until now it has been a relativley logical numbering system with the first number as the size (305 wasnt correct, it should have been 405 at the time) a 0 in the middle, and at the end the generation (as already said the 309 is the exception, and the 607 jumped the gun a bit, but it was a bit late to join the 06 crowd.
