Fuel price rises

Post by adamr8965 »

Duty rose at the pumps last night by 1p, and on tuesday vat is going up by 2.5% meaning fuel will be about 4 pence a litre by tuesday.

just watched a report on the news that said along with another duty hike in april, prices for a litre of diesel could be £1.54 by the end of 2011
have other people noticed when they do a budget, the tax rises are delayed till a few months later so that everyone has forgotten about it, fuel used to go up the day after a budget and also you now have TWO budgets a year (under labour anyway, not sure if the new goverment will carry this trend on but it wouldn't surprise me)
as for how much will the public take till we do anything? alot i think is the answer , but even if there are fuel blockades and the like i still don't see it making any long term difference, after a week or so of blockades the great british public will be moaning they can't filll their cars up
the agenda of the goverment is to get us all on public transport while using the global warming gravy train to hike taxes

That depends on the protest doesn't it? Blockading fuel depots is a bit silly, all the government need to do is wait 'til everyone runs out of fuel and it'll all fall on its arse anyway. What you really need to do is kidnap the chancellor, pour a few litres of petrol over him, set fire to him & then send HM government the bill. Easy.
