Formatting a NOTEBOOK

ok my mums notebook has a virus :(
i need to reinstall windows 7
but with notebooks it doesnt have a dvd rom drive

its an asus UL30A ,

it has an SD card slot on the side, do i put windows 7 onto a sd card and format it that way

yes the sd card needs to have only the iso image of windows 7 on it, and install it from that. i dont know where you are getting win7 from but them os's are usually installed from an iso.
but one virus doesnt mean the whole thing needs formatted, an antivirus should be able to remove it. also you could use an external dvd drive.

asus, they are a relativley new company but i wouldnt hold it against them they all run windows so all have an equal chance of getting a virus be it an asus, acer, dell or sony.

How fast is the netbook, Windows 7 needs alot of computer power most netbooks have Win Xp.

Putting an O/s back on a Notebook orNet/book is a Mission, :roll:
You have too Make the Device that your Going too use too Hold the Windows file Bootable or it wont load the Files, As you have too have a bootable device for it too load from, :(

Have a Nosey on You tube there is plenty of videos and Guides on there that will show you how its done , :wink:

It never twigged all netbooks have a secret partition with the O/s on. When your netbook boots up hit alt f11. This will take you into a hidden recovery. You can reinstall your original operating system.

bad ones,

it plays music on its own, all different net pages keep loadong its gone crazy

and then runnin an Antivirus on it :roll:

alt f11 doesnt do anything on mine mate ?
any other ideas ?

f8 or f2 or f10 it should give these options when booting up, but what exactly is the virus doing.

Gary whats your netbook make?
Google your netbooks name, then factory restore / back factory restore. Theres normally a hidden partition on the netbooks due to not having a cd drive. Its alt f11 but can be slightly different, and its always on the boot menu before windows loads.

ok thanks mate will check it out now,
just trying to install it again from SD card but on the 1st reboot it wont carry on
