Is this a common problem in the 406?

or did they leave the factory like this?

No mate .idoubt they left the factory like that,
its caused by the Edge of the seat belt cutting thru the plastic as a Guess,
Mines got a slice out of it but not as bad as yours,

ionly noticed it on mine yesterday -passenger side one is perfect no cut

its down to owners/drivers being rough or maybe its been a company car and the driver as been getting in out of the car alot,
